The delay has quite a nice character. The filter etc seems pretty quality. Tbh these are both pretty simple apps and if you have as many delays as I think you have I'm not sure you need this. So many good vintage delays came out last year. The tremolo is nice enough too but I can think of other ones I'd grab before it. Dev seems nice, I think they have potential but couldn't see myself grabbing the tremolo often, would rather use something more experimental like wov or even some of the tremolo fx these moogerfoogers are capable of.

And then also from K-Devices lfoh used as a tremolo would probably suit your particular experimental-oriented needs much more.

Thanks Gav! I love all those K Devices apps. WOV is a favorite for sure. LFOH can be very useful as well though.

Like you said, I’ll probably go for the delay first. I’m a sucker for a vintage (or any) delay and have most of the ones on the App Store but that one seems very characterful from the demo posted. Looks like it’s kinda similar to the new-ish dub delay app but with a focus on vintage BBD. Since they both have the distortion and filter lines in the signal. Obviously doing their own things though.

Think I’ll pick it up and then keep an eye on the Tremelo for now. Maybe in the coming weeks I’ll grab it too.

If the tremolo gets separate rates / depths and waveforms for left and right (not just offset) it will become more interesting to me - it will then be approaching the hallowed Johnny territory! If it did I'd be whipping out some xy pads to play it with faster than you can say 'Girlfriend in a Coma' 😂

Still can't believe no-one has just made basically an auv3 copy of Johnny and some of those other vanished Holderness classics

I only ever had a couple of those Holderness apps but they sounded beautiful! Hopefully the dev will stick with it! Sorta just came out of nowhere, so hoping they won’t also disappear out of nowhere too.

There’s a lack of really cool/unique tremolos on iOS compared to the amount of cool reverbs, delays, flangers, etc so if they can add some stuff like that, I think they’ll have a winner on their hands.

They already have disappeared mostly. Only one or two are left on the appstore Johnny, for example, is gone, but luckily I still have it on my ipad > @HotStrange said:

Like a dummy I never really tried any besides the reverbs and a delay. I did love them though! Think they’re offloaded now but the reverb in particular sounded amazing. He was a great programmer.

Now it’s got me thinking, what cool Tremolo effects do we really have? There’s the Neon Silicon one (which is great), Undulator, and the MoDelayrium app which comes with a cool tremolo, but outside of those and Dragonfly, there’s really not much beyond a couple of other typical tremolo effects. So maybe the dev is on to something here.

As mentioned above, both wov and lfoh by K-Devices are really interesting creative tremolos. I suppose you can make your own setups by bussing, splitting left and right audio and using separate tremolo apps on each, perhaps modulated by different lfos etc

I mostly use WOV for weird gating stuff so I guess I never even think about it as a Tremolo, even though it’s all similar.

I mean, at its most basic, stick an lfo on a volume slider of an audio channel and voila, you have a tremolo

Only one or two are left on the appstore Johnny, for example, is gone, but luckily I still have it on my ipad

Oh yeah for sure. I’m still kinda at odds with this one. Considering it to help out a new dev but may wait until another pay cycle and just pick up the delay for now.

Side note, I’ve been exploring all my tremolos for the last hour and I forgot how cool the Neon Silicon Nesi Trem app is. Why don’t I use it more?? Lol

Totally forgot about it - unfortunately, sometimes people don’t value stuff as much when it is free. No skin in the game 🤷‍♂️

That explains why we value Pianoteq so much then 🤪 but seriously that’s definitely true. A lot of my favorite effects are free (those and the AudioModern for example). Maybe growing up poor made me value any and everything regardless 😂

  • I see the dev has already implemented one thing I suggested, that’s a good sign 👍👍

Sweet! Looks like they’re on top of things for the time being. Hope it stays that way. In the past Devs doing fixes requested from users soon after launch has been a good sign.

  • Made a dual demo video for both TaS-X and DP-1

    @HotStrange

Neon Silicon’s apps are fantastic in general, I think. Spirangle and CuSpN really are unlike anything else on iOS, as far as I can tell, and are top tier plugins.

How do you like PD-1? I bought TaS-X and it’s a great, simple, but still unique tremolo. Curious about the delay though.

Yes! Very true @GUB. GyroVibe and xTrem from that dev is great too. I really like their EQs as well. Have you tried them?

I also was more curious about the Tremolo one before trying both, but the Delay has a nice character with the L and R on different times from each other and the effect going on full mix, it can make monotonic sounds fuller, with the ability to add a but of "Distortion" (sounds ok as long as it's subtle). Other knobs also get a bit extreme but that's less of my style, so I keep them at 20% at most.

Sweet thanks! I’ll probably eventually pick up the delay just based on how much I like the tremolo.

  • It’s free for Mac and Widows - but £4.99 in the AppStore - hey! I thought we got the cheap stuff - please get this sorted 😛

Haha there’s a handful of free on desktop apps that are paid on iOS. I get it though, probably just wanting compensation for the work of porting their app.
