  • At some point I downloaded it and deleted, I don’t remember when or why tbh, but it definitely makes me think launch pad. I might consider buying your app if it could export projects as Ableton Live projects but I don’t do subscriptions as far as music apps go with the exception of subscribing to Logic Pro for a year and who knows if I’ll do it for another year.

    I understand your point.

In fact, there's a lot we've been working on the past 24 months, with a better focus on what to prioritize the last 12 months thanks to extensive researches and connection with our users (600K active monthly).

We're working on Ableton one click export, but it's not yet here. However, you have the possibility to export your Stems in Aiff/Wav quality.

Also, you have 7 days to try everything free (don't forget to cancel before the end of the free week to not be charged if you're not satisfied)

Frankly, i'm pretty confident that you'll find it quite appealing as i personally enjoy it more and more.
As for a bit of context, i'm working on Remixlive for the past 3 years, but i come from a 15+ years touring DJ (europe), record store owner (Berlin), long time user of Ableton and Fruity Loops, plus Hardware machines. So at first i wasn't even the target segment for Remixlive. But what we're trying to achieve now and what's coming in the next versions got me more and more into it and i'm starting to enjoy it very much, even with the limitations.

You'll be very pleased by the very next feature coming in version 7.6 (mid Sept.) with the Ableton Note-like Live recording/Looping.

Anyway, super happy to share and speak about Remixlive with you guys, always very helpful insights and feedback.

  • I think you would have to either have to make it an AU or have multiple outs (one per column) in order that the outgoing sounds can be manipulated per track. This for me is it’s biggest drawback. At the moment it’s non AU and enclosed. It can neither be a centrepiece workstation integrating other apps or a flexible standalone instrument. The only way round this at the moment is to have multiple devices each with a Remix Live.. and not many people are going to do that. Until you do this I don’t think the branding will make a massive difference.
I know you have spent a lot of time developing the app - but for me you have been off in the wrong direction with it. I think it needs modernised - not expanded.
I mean you are up against the likes of Loopy Pro where you can configure its loops and playability to suit your own needs.

@LouisH you are correct. You basically nailed what I was trying to explain. My opinion was formed years ago, and kind of just stayed that way for whatever reason. I didn’t Even realize your app offered at least half of those features, so that’s good to know. There is a disconnect, at least for me, between the quality/features of the app and my perception of it.

I snapped this screenshot below in an effort to show you how a lot of these beat making apps have a similar look, at least on the surface. This is only a few, and I’m not singling out the apps in the picture, just adding a visual to help explain my perception. there must be a thousand of these apps out there. most I’ve never tried, they appear to be for beginners, or lower quality. the key word is appear, since I haven’t tried most of them, it must be something about the sheer amount of apps with a similar color scheme or similar app icon or name that makes me subconsciously lump them all into this category of beginner, subpar, etc.. beat making apps, instead of giving them each their own identity.

Thanks for this very on point answer, as usual.
You're talking exactly about what i'd expected. The importance of a good and accurate Branding in this vast "Red Ocean" of Beat Making Apps. We really have to work on it. Deeply. Understand what makes us different now from the other "cash-grab", super beginner oriented or closed box environment and be able to transcript it in a coherent visual identity and message.

I guess it comes now that the gap is huge between the App itself and what it reflects.

I'm very keen to know what brands or products have made you feel like their branding effort was satisfying, appealing, attractive, and reflects exactly the user experience?

PS: In my first research of Remixlive Branding issue, i've came up with this

Doesn’t the app have a timeline for more DAW-like editing of your sounds? Maybe a name and image that reflects that somehow to really show how different it is?

Your app and Launchpad are far and away the top 2 in this category, but your app has some unique features that I think are worth focusing on. And would maybe make a lot more people buy as you can attract customers that already have Launchpad since you’re offering something different.
