miniBit by AudioThing (Released)
miniBit is an 8-bit/chiptune style synthesizer plugin that emulates the sound of 80s game consoles and retro computers.
It features a main oscillator with 18 waveforms paired with a sub oscillator (a square wave pitched one octave below).
The waveforms are not bandlimited and will produce aliasing. Furthermore, using the built-in bitcrusher, you can create even more noisy and retro sounds.
miniBit also features a synced 8 Steps Stepper/Sequencer with multiple destinations.
From noisy, snare-like steps to ambient subs, miniBit has many uses beyond what one expects from a chiptune synth

We have a ton of 8-bit synths, but it's AudioThing! Can't wait to snag it!
I’ve been hoping they would start porting more of their drum and synths AUs instead of mostly effects. Don’t get me wrong I love the effects but they have some really cool drum machines and synths as well.
This is a synth. 🤣 As @Gavinski pointed out, man whachu smokin and where can I score some?
Oh I know lol I was saying I’m glad this one is finally a synth and not another effect. There’s still a couple effects I’d like to see but I really hope we get some drum and percussion stuff next 🤩
Turns out you were the one smoking too much this time, eh 😂?
miniBit is a good one btw...simple but with some great features!
It's always good to have more chiptune synthesizers on iOS
I am the one who emailed Audiothing to add a custom waveform feature inspired by the N163 and SCC chips, and they implemented it instantly!
Oh excellent! That's a good feature 🔥
I’m smoking a mix of white octane and chem cake and minibit is one of my favorite synths. It’s a lot of fun and more versatile than you’d expect upon first glance
There’s just TWO thing I’ve not found in miniBIT (even after digging thru the manual multiple times) and it’s a one-shot mode for the ‘sequencer’ and detaching it’s ‘tempo sync’ (authentic chip-sound modulations always run at fixed speed regardless of tempo)
Maybe there’s some hidden long-tap gestures lurking in there to be ‘discovered’
I’ll still be getting this when it drops…
Are we all just on that mega zaza this week? 🤣
Agreed! I haven’t used it yet but have watched demos from when it first came out and have been hoping since their first iOS port that this was coming. They have a couple great drum and reverb AUs that would be great too.
I fairly set in the synths I use these days but I’m excited for this one!
Its out

OMG Gavinski, your right! I about fell off of my chair-genius that! Cheers, ED
Wow $4.99? Instabuy for me. I’ve been looking forward to this one.
I’m guessing their organ app they teased will be next.
Who knows, that organ is not even on beta
Yeah I noticed that. Isn’t it the Philicorda? Fingerlabs already has a really really great one, so I’m not hurting for it, but since AudioThing veers more experimental I’m curious what there interpretation will be like.
Yes I'm also curious. I don't know how good it sounds compared to the original hardware units but I really love that Fingerlab one, so yeah, Audiothing will need to do something interesting with this one to compete.
Agreed. Fingerlabs is one of my favorite developers on the platform, and I surprisingly don’t see them mentioned as much as I’d think I would. Considering I still choose their Mellotron app over Sampletron half the time, the AudioThing version would have to be really special to beat it.
I think it is because their apps often have some irritating bugs or missing features. They're an interesting dev, but far from top tier for me, tbh, and their built in fx are subpar
