What are you using Koala’s new mixer for?

So far I’m just adding delay to individual drums, but I bet some of you all are getting far more creative.

What are you doing with the mixer?

Using the four busses to group sounds for mixing. And mixing into the limiter (which is how I get my results). :)

  • Emulating wobbly wobbly tape

  • Set sampling input to 'resample'.
Add Mic to one of the busses and add a bunch of effects to sample the input thru a custom effect chain :)

Nothing fancy, just some Drive, Compression, filter and Warble on the main channel!
Can add more warble and/or tape delay to individual channels.

  • Mangling some found sounds, pitching them way down, looping them, and running each one through their own effects bus has been fun so far. Can’t wait to dive in more tomorrow 🔥

    That's clever stuff right there.

  • Used the tape delay and bit crusher on a sliced up screen cap of an Arpie pattern to make the backdrop for my latest:

Just one of those things I played around with during beta :sunglasses:
(It works best when using headphones to avoid feedback).

I was going to post something similar. This seems like an app I can use with found sounds. Sometimes, experimenting with multiple effects can bring desirable results

  • Where is the link to purchase the mixer?

  • On the performance page, bottom right.

    thanks. seems kinda tucked away!

  • First of all, let me say that I love Koala Sampler. I am still learning the ropes. So, along comes the Mixer. I watched the video. Nice features. I can use them on my Mac. However, because Logic does not see it as a plugin, I use Koala as a stand-alone, and therefore the FXs are needed. However, on my iPad, it is a different story. I use AUM and load an instance of Koala. I multichannel for FXs and individual pad control. I have an arsenal of AUv3 FXs, so the Mixer is of little use in this instance. Even so, this is a great addition! I have yet to decide if this IAP is something I need, most definitely on the Mac (it would be great if Koala was an AU plugin Logic recognizes), but of little to no use for me on the iPad. This is not to discount the experience of other users, though!

I see it on the iPad version, but not the Mac. I am only interested in the Mixer to use on the Mac version due to it being standalone. I'd love to use this wonderful app inside Logic. Is the Mixer available on that platform?

  • Same, compression, Limiter, and few fx like delay... Didn't have much time to play with it because of work

  • I kind of wish that the existing performance effects could be added to mixer channels, but I guess I can just keep resampling.

It’s great for found sounds and experimental music. It’s my go to for that actually. And now with the effects busses, it’s even better.

  • Koala already takes up a lot of my music making, but with the new effects and mix busses, it’s gonna be taking up even more. And I’m not complaining lol. I’m stoked to see where it goes from here.

I’m kind of glad AU hosting didn’t get added tbh. I saw a few people mention that would be nice. But I love that the app is just doing its own thing and still retains some of its simplicity.

    Perfect 😂

  • Although on latest version, I don’t have the option to access/buy the mixer. Does anyone know if there are some minimum requirements, either software or hardware?

It works fairly well with a few ounces of Gin, an ounce of dry Vermouth, and some orange bitters.

  • For my Fostered Koalas in the garden.

    Use for mixing their food/beer.

    and to test telepathy.

    When giving them food.

I just stand there with a straight face.

    Trigger samples.

    Here you go etc.

If you don't have the Samurai upgrade, then you won't see the Mixer upgrade.

Koala dev, master of intuitive UI, also master of hiding upgrade paths!

  • making weird music haha.

Im loving it. getting really glitchy, really fast.

  • I'm not using it. I just bought it to feed my GAS.

I wasn’t able to purchase the mixer until I updated to the new iOS. Some people don’t seem to be having this problem but that turned out to be my issue. Some people needed to reinstall the app.
