  • SIDECHAIN! Finally able to get my kicks and snares to really pop.

Low pass filter to create bass lines from loops. High pass filter on the same sample to preserve the melody.

That doesn’t lead to boomy, indisticnt bass? Hmmm

🔥🔥🔥 very wavy 🌊 my friend. Custom samples?

  • I’ve been using it in standalone mode more often because of the new mixer and effects. Capturing random sounds and mangling them into a sonic hellscape that quickly and easily should be a crime.

Thank you!!! All the samples are stock koala samples other than the voice recordings. I recorded those in koala and added some effects with the new mixer elements.

  • I use the master channel with limiter. Never been a buss guy but seeing what was done here I just hope we can do this on individual channels eventually.

Did you just use the built in iPhone microphone? It sounds pretty clear if so.

Yes I did. That’s why I am loving the IAP for the mixer. It made a great deal of difference!!

Here is a little short showing how rough the vocal recordings were and how the mixer items helped out!

Thanks! I’m planning on buying a usb mic soon but it’s surprising the quality you can get from the internal mic at times.

  • Quick question
Once you make some buses with adding the new effects etc
    When you save the project
Are the buses saved also ?
So you don’t have to recreate them

Thanks! It’s a lot more experimental but I’m happy with it so far.

Here is a new short I made while at lunch. I recorded a car driving by, three vocal lines with the iPhone mic, and stock sounds…. Again lol. The mixer took this app to a new level for a noob like me.
    https://youtube.com/shorts/JBrr72Lq6tM?si=3W_X1wRihq4LgTg6

By the way. While I was waiting on an errand I decided to play around with koala and record my process. As it is obvious, my flow is spastic and directionless. But I will leave this here in case someone even more amateurish than myself benefits from a sample session on how I have been using koala and the mixer:

Then I added a bass and another vocal line and created a kinda of coherent short piece:

The beat switch to half time in the middle was fantastic 🔥 awesome stuff and appreciate the second vid. I know my way around Koala fairly well but always love to see vids of other peoples workflows.

Thank you man! Hearing that from you it’s a big deal to me. I have always loved music but my lack of formal training, and other things have always been a deterrent. Hearing that someone thinks some of the things I do are cool or even 🔥 are incredibly validating. Thanks man for checking it out.

  • I was showing my dad how easy to use Koala sampler and this is the result:

    https://youtube.com/shorts/TcbUGsqKZwQ?si=xUW7Q-IF3__crSJH

My dad had some Rachmaninoff on the TV playing out of Spotify, so I recorded a few seconds of it, chopped and arranged three short samples from it, and sang two short made up phrases. The first one I tried to sound like a woman….lol and then on the second one I tried sounding like a man.
