Isle of Mull

Taking advantage of being able to create anywhere with an iPad and to finish of a fantastic day on the Isle of Mull here is a quickly created and played piece using Piano Motifs, Decent Sampler and GeoViola (GeoShred)… hopefully there will be opportunity to produce more before the end of the week 😊

  • Love this ... captures the scenic beauty very well, and it sounds like Scotland (speaking as a Scot) - the wild windswept ancient landscape, and the music seems to call that spirit forth. Great job!

  • Amazing piece of music! I loved the soft chord progression.

  • Really nice piece of music that fits the scene and the location very well!

  • Very nice indeed...

  • That's lovely. The music perfectly blends into the beautiful landscape. Greetings from the Moray Firth to the Isle of Mull!

    ...where is my Tobermory...oups, empty

    Great muse by the way

  • Beautiful. Never been there, and your little piece is inviting me to do so !

  • Many thanks @craftycurate , @jdp000 , @AlterEgo_UK , @Pxlhg , @catherder , @cuscolima and @JanKun 🙏
We did indeed go to Tobermory today, weather good… this is turning into some sort of weather forecast / travelogue 😊
Another great day and another video (the little stream running by the side of the cottage) and music… Piano Motifs, Decent Sampler and GeoCello.

  • Beautiful, mellow but haunting. Great use of instruments.

  • Lovely and touching <3

  • Beautiful and so relaxing!

  • Nicely composed

  • Thanks for the listens and comments @matdun25848834 , @catherder , @AlterEgo_UK , @LinearLineman and @reezygle .
Here’s a third piece inspired by a trip yesterday to the Isle of Ulva (population 10) . The church was designed by Thomas Telford and built in 1828.
Piano Motifs, BeatHawk Organ, SWAM soprano Sax.

  • Another lovely piece. Like the choice of the organ with the church in mind.

  • Cheers Colin ( @AlterEgo_UK ) I guess it was a bit obvious but it had to be done 😊
Here is todays quickly produced piece from day 4 on the Isle of Mull… Sand erosion on Calgary Beach.
I just downloaded Entonal Studio so thought I should use it.
Here it’s being used as an effect for Piano Motifs to play Speldosa and I used the keyboard in Entonal to add a bit of variety.

This one is profoundly beautiful and I guess is a perfect rendition of what it should be to live on a (northern) desert island

This has quite a spacey feel to it. It actually sounds like it is being played backwards. I wonder what it would sound like in reverse?

I'm curious to know where you are in the Moray Firth as I know this part of Scotland pretty well ... Findochty, (or Finechty should O say), Portknockie, Buckie, Forres, Fochabers ... many happy holidays spent there. Used to have family near Elgin but they've moved away now.

  • I finally got to listen to all the tracks. A fine collection of sight and sound.

I live in Forres. Moved from Germany to Scotland 22 years ago. I love this area. Plenty of beautiful landscape and a nice mix of people.

  • Thanks @cuscolima and @azul3D_Apps 👍
Interesting question Colin ( @AlterEgo_UK ). If you watch Speldosa on the Eternal setting that I used here the blob (the sound ?) moves upwards to the comb whereas on the three other settings the blob moves downwards from the comb so this suggests it is reversing the sound on this setting. So if you reversed it would you finish up with a normal music box sound ? I’ll leave it to somebody else to try it 😊
It is a lovely part of the world @craftycurate and @catherder . I particularly liked Culbin Forest and as I remember enjoyed a visit to the Baxter’s restaurant in Fochabers, now sadly closed.

  • I’m curious how your Staffa version would turn out, if you visit. A revised Mendelssohn motive, cave echoes, puffins or a battle between Scottish and Irish giants... ? I loved my visit to that area.

Noooooooo! Oh do you mean just the restaurant, or the whole factory? I’ve had many a happy scone and jam there.

On our most recent trip we stayed in a hotel in Fochabers that has half a metal deer outside - do you know it?

  • We’re just doing the north this week @Fritz and plan to do the south (and hopefully Staffa) another year.
Think it’s just the restaurant and shop @craftycurate as per this article…

  • Fifth day and the rain has finally caught up with us. Despite that, more Golden Eagles than you can shake a stick at 🦅
Simple piece using Decent Sampler played with GeoShred.

    Good to know thanks!

Will you be visiting Iona while you're on Mull?

  • Next time we are here I think @craftycurate . Were in Dervaig this week which is on the north coast so a bit too far 🤨

Aye, well since Mull proved to be such fertile soil for your creativity, then I'm confident Iona certainly will too, if you like windswept wildness, the open sea, the wide sky and all that kind of thing.

Nice! Forres has an excellent chippie, as I recall.
