fine here.....ios 7.2....
Jon,thank you.
am luvin this
@boone51 Thank you for raising your issue on the 'poof'. I'm able to force the 1st launch issue actually, on iOS8/iPad 2, but not on Air iOS 7.1.2. The 'poof' on the chord displays however, I'm not able to force.
It sounds like this might be related to iOS 8 on 64 bit devices (from reading here) and will of course be first priority to investigate for a maintenance update. Same goes for the launch issue when updating. I'm like many others holding a little on iOS 8 my main device (Air)
Again, thank you for this information!
Really cool. Held off from getting this app for a long time - this may be the time.
I can crash it by rapid strumming (think finger drumroll) as well on ipad 3 ios 7
I wasn't seeing this update in the App Store so then I noticed there is a "GuitarCapo+" and they make note of the Midi update in its description. And rather than the "open" button being there it has "$4.99" in its place. The separately listed "GuitarCapo" listing does have the "open" button which obviously indicates I own it and it's on my iPad but it doesn't say anything about the update.
I'm a little confused though because on March 14 I made an in-app purchase in GuitarCapo for something called the "full version" for $1.99. So I'm wondering what exactly I purchased back then? If I have to purchase "GuitarCapo+" to get these new enhancements then why was that called the "full version"? I was under the impression this whole time that I had the full version because of this, rather than the free version, so I'm a little surprised that I don't see this update.
Perhaps I misunderstood. Anybody else running into this?

All the new features will also appear in the purchased IAP (in the free version without the +). Due to long review times it is still waiting for Apple review, but hopefully put within the nearest days
Ah ok. Thanks so much for the response. I'll keep a lookout for that. Love your app!
Thanks
I am amazed by this app and its development, Kudos and Thanks.
I'll second that @WMWM. Impressive responsiveness from tonappas, and huge improvement over last version. That's an awesome combination.
Seeing concepts go from the audiobus forum into an app, and in the timeframe they were implemented, is just mind blowing. Kudos indeed.
(now to squash those pesky little bugs)
congrats on the release @tonappas
New purchaser as of yesterday, really like the update. I think I had downloaded the free version previously, but the addition of MIDI, strum speed, and (yes) even the reduced file size all put me over the edge. I got MIDI out to work pretty easily, but was actually enjoying MIDI in and what it could do with the various MIDI controllers/sequencers I already have. As a guitar player, 90% of the "things" that impersonate guitars (samples, synths, apps, etc.) sound fake to me - this is one of the best. Guitarism is also excellent, but there really is room for both of them - they do a lot of different things.
When using MIDI into GuitarCapo+, what is the best way to adjust note sustain? You can add "velocity" or adjust "gate" from the MIDI app, but probably adding reverb, dynamics, etc. within GC+'s FX section would help.
I actually prefer using the button press strums over physically trying to strum the strings. While they are reasonably responsive, it's just too unnatural and inconsistent of a movement across a glass screen to get it right. I love the strum speed adjuster (it's like a stealth arpeggiator), but wonder if the top speed could be even faster. In a full-speed guitar strum, you nearly hear all 6 strings all at once.
Thank you for all those kind words!
I really like receiving suggestions and feedback (both good and bad) - thats what brings GuitarCapo+ further, and there might be some plans already
Cheers!
Couple of suggestions then
Midi in for the strum pads - you could use low notes a la MPC style.
Labeling & quantisation on the strum speed adjuster.

Thanks. The low notes are occupied by two octaves bass guitar though
Good point, well made. You have a couple of octaves of high notes though
The free version of GuitarCapo just got approved by Apple and is on its way out to the App Store (should be available soon or withing hours).
This one is with fever features than GuitarCapo+ but contains a IAP to unlock. That makes it identical to GuitarCapo+ to the same price.
For those of you already got this version there is an issue on some devices running iOS8 related to upgrading and it might fail to start. Solve this by deleting the already installed one and install again.
Ongoing work to fix this issue. And maybe some other plans
Cheers!
does the free version have both midi in and midi out, or is there a list somewhere of which has which features?
There is a list on my website. But the short answer is yes, but locked with IAP.
Features that unlocks is FX mixer (with the string pan/delay eq++), MIDI in/out, Sound selections and extended chord libray. The ad removal also unhides the strum adjuster/slider. In the IAP screen there is an option either to unlock inside the app or to purchase GuitarCapo+ From the App Store (which is another identical app but without the IAP).
Generically I think deleting the free app and buying the paid one is the best idea in the long run. For example it seems that you don't get credit in bundles for for having the IAP unlocked version of a free app.
thanks tonappas,

Can not disagree on that. But it got its history
In the beginning GuitarCapo was free and features were added that resulted in a IAP. GuitarCapo+ came because of what you mention.
Hi all,
Another GuitarCapo weekend here resulted in submitting maintenance updates of both GuitarCapo´s addressing the bugs brought up here and a little more:
So, some time between now and christmas there should be an 2.8.1 version out there
Cheers!
Hey tonappas,
Cngratulations for what looks like an interesting piece of code ;D
As a guitarist, all the guitar-emulating apps have always looked a bit weird to me! But the possibility of triggering external sounds via MIDI and use the chord charts as a chord player (à la Chordion to name one) makes GC+ really intriguing, because I can't play keyboards really well.
In order for this to work for me I'd need some features. Could you tell me whether these are available or might go into your to-do list?
Basically, I guess I'm trying to determine whether GC+ can act as a complete chord/arpeggio player
I'd also like to know how how many chords are stored in the app. On the guitar there are at least 8 different positions for each chord in the first 12 frets and, considering chords made by up to 6 digrees, the total number of positions is about 4000 (within 12 frets). I believe you chose just some of them, and would be really pleased if you wanted to share your strategy

It would be great if the user could create their own positions and store them in the batch, so you'd basically "outsurce" the boring task and make everyone happy
I may be wrong, but it seems to me that by these additions GC+ would become the most complete and versatile chord/arpeggio player on the market, extending its potential customer base by far over those who need a virtual guitar or a MIDI-trigger.
Thanks for your attention and your time
@Viabcroce Thank you for kind words
There is a to-do list, and customized chords and strum patterns are also suggested by others and is on the future possibilities. I like your suggestions
My strategy on the chords are simplicity, and the stored chords are chosen ones with the philosophy of transposing either octaves or with the capo expands the number of chords quite alot. This is how I think when I play the guitar - less is more.
The way the chords are stored is made with future expansion in mind. Means that custom chords are welcomed in the way they are organized and how the notes are triggered and controlled.
I will not announce any guarantees here but at some point there will be another feature update
Cheers!
Thanks tonappas
I'll keep an eye on it X)
Have you realized that MIDI out + the possibility to tap on a chord and have it played move GC+ to a completely new dimension?! This is not any longer (just) a "guitar" app. When people realize this, many other potential buyers will seriously consider it as a generic chord/arpeggio player able to compete with the other 3-4 main apps out there
PS: It was a rhetorical question XD
Break a leg!
Havent thought about it that way, but thanks
The challenge is how to reach the potential buyers... There is a couple of great apps out there
I feel you
In the '80s I'd have suggested to rename the app to "NotOnlyGuitars" ;D
On a more serious note, I'd remove the guitar from the icon, and add the sub "MIDI Arpeggiator and Universal Chord Player".
But I'm definitely no-one to know about it.
@Viabcroce Something to think about!
The new version of both GuitarCapos (the free one and the one with +) is out today - and that was fast! Thanks Apple for that
Should be available on the App Store now
Already working on next version and made a short (with terrible playing) sound example on some of it. The list for next release is set and will basically include users suggestions.
