Module Pro - "London Symphonic Orchestra" by KAPro IAP
Also Korg seems to be having a sale! $6.99 for the "London Symphonic Orchestra" pack! Going to grab this IAP tomorrow! One of the best romplers keeps getting better!
Comments
Makes a perfect companion for iPad.
Is it better or just different from "Orchestral Dreams"?
Seems like more dark strings with choirs that velocity sensitive. I like it
Paid 9.99 for it last night. Guess I missed the sale
Haven't checked yet mate. I can't buy it until tomorrow (tight budget this past week). Once I buy it I'll give my first impressions in this thread. > @stormywaterz said:
Might've been a touch too early I'd guess. If I saw it right away and had the extra funds I would've snatched it up instantly too. 😂
It seems to be £6.99 today - here is a demo I did of the presets for London Symphonic Orchestra (multi-layered sounds too!):
I downloaded the in-app symphonic instruments trial and I'm not seeing any way to access strings, only horns. Am I missing something here?
I'm going slightly off topic here, but I've just discovered Notion Mobile. It's free, with a large sample set from the London Symphony Orchestra too. The small paid upgrade adds even more. I wonder if its the same source set as used by this Korg app?
I wouldn't mind exporting my finished masterpiece (actual 'finish' pending... possibly for years...) from Notion, loading it up as MIDI in Cubasis and then using something like the Korg Module as auv3. Will it sound the same?
I’m not seeing programs in the AUv3 module…just the standalone app…?
Here is a screenshot of Korg Module within AUM as an AUV3 and all the presets in the London Symphonic Orchestra pack appear to be there and include strings, horns, woodwind and choir and some times within these presets - even though the Category only says Brass/Wind. Some sounds require extra pressure or velocity to come through though.
I only have the 7 day demo downloaded at the moment as well.
Sounds excellent @AlterEgo_UK! Great playing too
My favorite Module Pro Packs over the years have made by KAPro (Kurt Adler Productions).
This is a new KAPro pack. It’s a keeper.
It’s also worth mentioning that the sound packs in Xinematix are a joint collaboration between Kurt Ader and Oliver Rehn (KARO Sound Development).
>
Is Korg usually this sloppy with their patch naming?
Thank you @Gavinski 😀
Yeah the KAPro packs are fantastic. Top tier sound quality wise. That’s a big reason why I haven’t invested in Xinematix yet since I already have multiple IAPs in Module (and Beathawk). Definitely worth the price.
I'm quite lost. Is it normal that with piano/mezzoforte I hear different instrument than in forte velocity under the same key?
For example there are choir and cello under D3 key on preset 1 - "KApro Switch Orchestra 1".
I found trigger level for switching instruments are on velocity 91-44 (preset 5 "" cello to brass)
Really annoying for me. Am I miss something or this is a "feature" I didn't understand?
That's a feature
@Gavinski Thank you. Finally I purchased Orchestral Dreams instead of London. This feature is also there but in less presets and it is also more controllable. And I'm really satisfied with diversity of instruments in this IAP.
Enjoy! Yes some of these module packs are nice, no question, some less so, to my taste anyway. But I do very much like that they let you trial them for a week. Wish more devs offered that for their apps and iaps
Finally got the London Orchestra pack and it's so nice and rich! Top tier sounds. KAPro Orchestral Dreams is also top tier! I definitely got my fair share of orchestral sounds now.
I also got Hyperpop and 70s EP packs since I believe they too were on sale. Can't wait to put all of these to good use inside of Koala Sampler.
I agree. Having a week-long demo is a super nice feature not many other devs would allow.
And yes, a lot of packs are top tier. Others are "just okay", but even G128 has its uses. 😉 (Sure G128 is redundant when used in Gadget since Marseille has all those sounds, but there is no Marseille AUv3, only Module Pro AUv3.)
Module Pro is one of those romplers for which I'm a completionist. Beathawk and Pure Synth Platinum 2 as well. Even if the IAP is lesser, I will still find a use for it somehow. 🤣 That's just me though. Your mileage may vary.
This is a mofo-ing dangerous app to be a copmpletionist for lol. All these IAPs at full price would cost probably a fair bit north of a grand. Not worth that, imo
then again, some would say that about pianoteq pro studio, and I would diasagree, so hey - each to their own on this kind of thing, I guess!
True, I probably spent over a thousand quid on this f-cking app, but it was over the course of at least a good 7-8 years. 😂 To a newcomer, yeah, it's going to cost a lot of money. More than a base-grade iPhone SE.
Subscribed. I appreciate I can return goods during 14 days from purchase thanks to EU law but sometimes I feel almost guilty to do that.
After watching @AlterEgo_UK Colin’s excellent video this morning I was inspired to demo the pack today.
I was going to check it out next week, but after watching Colin’s video I was super impressed with the pack, Korgs little sound demo does not do it justice at all.
Nothing to feel guilty about. The right to try something before buying is a common one, if not there, buying and returning is the only other option. It seems that Apple do not penalise devs for returns although apparently in theory they can. So don't feel guilty.
Also Korg lets you use the trial period in the AUV3 so you can test how it’ll fit into your actual music and performance. There’s lots to complain about with Korg but I think they hit the nail on the head with that part.
Couple questions for those that have tried it: how does it compare to the Orchestral Dreams pack? I don’t use these sounds often enough to justify both, but I definitely do want at least one them.
Also how do you reckon it compares to the GSI Mini Orchestra app? I’ve been eyeballing it as well and I like that you can control the levels of each part.
True, true, good point also. Sugar Bytes apps don't allow that. But, I guess with Sugar Bytes, the upside is that there is no limit to the length of the demo, same with RRS. It's all too easy to download a module pack to trial, fiddle with it for a few mins, then never touch the demo again before it has expired 😂
I was just going to suggest trying GSI Mini Orchestra. If you go to the Genuine Soundware website, you can download and try this software (demo versions) on your Windows or Mac computer. It is a very cool app because you can design your own orchestra. You can select the instruments that you want to include, set the triggering velocity for each, leverage aftertouch (if your keyboard has it), etc.
