  • Does anyone have a link for Spectrum Synth? Can’t find it… 🤦

There's something wrong with existing links. The App Store returns "The app is no longer available in your country or region." Even from my purchased apps.

Probably the developer forgot to, or decided not to, renew their developer account.

    @burns_audio - you still around?

  • That would be a shame. It's such a good bundle.

  • Fuck, did another one bite the dust?

  • That would suck but could be temporary.

I don’t see it in my “territory”. It seems Apple is making it difficult for freebies. I think the idea of only one Apple Store is a monopoly.

Aaargh. I hate it when Apple block access to my purchased apps.

  • Damn. It’s not showing in my purchased list. That’s a real shame, it was an excellent package.

I have only three free synths installed: ChowKick, Spectrum, and Viking.

Have you checked out BLEASS' Monolit? It's really quite good.

I have Monolit indeed, but for some reason I don’t categorize it as free software, nor SUBscription. They are just marketing shenanigans for me. 🤔 So promoting the small developers and their fantastic work is in the first place.

If it's free, can't it be accepted as such, on its own merits? Of course they want you to buy more, they're trying to make a living, but there is no need to buy more, though to be fair I haven't used Monolit much so it might have nagverts or upselling in it, I can't remember. But if not, we're free to take it and run :#

It's open source. Maybe somebody else can take it on?

I’m not denying the fact that this software is free, it’s just my internal categorization by the developer first. You know, so I can prioritize those developers when promoting such products. Am I doing the right thing or not? Who knows? After all, it's just my way. 😇

Monolit is a great synth, I love it!

  • Spectrum is back in the App Store (in the UK at least).

I’m wondering if the dev forgot to renew their sub.

    This is wonderful news.

It’s awesome. It’s actually 3 Au synths and an Au fx.

Viking Synth - simple monophonic analog modeled synth with 3 oscillators…easy to use on an iPhone screen, has AUv3

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/viking-synth/id1085274012

Pretty much this. Very underappreciated synth, easily one of best sounding synths on iOS. Definitely in TOP 10 .. it's very much inspired by Moog Model D - in my opinion it sounds better than Model D plugin. Filter is absolutely fantastic, TOP 3 filter implementarion on iOS.

Indeed, Viking doesn’t have a flashy UI but it sounds very good.

Agreed, Viking justifies the given name, it’s simple, wild, and powerful!
