miRack 3.8x can now act as AUv3 host

The new miRack update 3.80 brings two new modules that can host AUv3 plugins. The module set is available as an IAP (less than £4 in the UK).
My first experience in one word: This is insane ! I just ran Drambo inside miRack with Drambo’s speed controlled by miRack’s Transport “Clocked” module. I had to disable host sync inside Drambo and re-enable it to link the transport sync to the miRack host module.

  • If I buy the “big host “ then is the other one redundant? Or is there a reason to buy both? Genuine question

It’s a module package. You get both modules with the purchase.

    Ah! Gotcha. Thanks @catherder

  • Yea that’s a huge huge update. Total game changer, I’m having a blast with it.

  • That's really incredible!

  • Some AUs definitely need the big host - Other Desert Cities, Flux Pro and the GS DSP 'magic' plugins all cause MiRack to crash if I try to run them in the regular host.

Can confirm, Koala crashed on me in the smaller host

  • Looking forward to some videos explaining how this all works because I haven’t got the foggiest…

how do AU MIDI effects work inside MiRack? The host modules have MIDI inputs, but no outputs.

Ah, I think I found it. One has to add another MIDI input module, there the hosted MIDI AU will appear.

However, it’s not working yet. The MIDI AU has no effect.

Edit: now it’s working. One has to connect the pitch CV and the gate to the host module. That’s the difference between digital and analog. In the analog world, only pitch CV is necessary to route through an FX module.

Can you please share a printscreen of your midi setup in MiRack?

  • Definitely a big update. MiRack is really one of the best apps on iOS and would probably be a desert island app for me. It can just do so much. Even more so now.

    Great, thank you

  • Cool! I should spend more time learning modules really, but this is worth buying and getting to later.

  • Backup your files guys. My miRack folder on phone storage suddenly disappeared.

  • How can I send the transport control to a AUv3 sequencer (ex. Fugue Machine) ?

Thanks for the heads up. You mean you lost them when you updated correct?

Yea I was trying to load up an old project to try out auv3s with it and I can’t find the miRack folder in phone storage.

Yes as far as I can tell the folder was there till I updated

You have to use the "Clocked" module to generate tansport clock that will be available to the AUv3s

Just use Clocked and it acts as transport without cables

  • Amazing!

    Ok, it works, thanks

  • Is it right, that only as stand alone or as Inter-App other AUv‘s could be hosted? MI-Rack as AUV3 only shows me itself again as audio unit to choose inside the host modules.

Yes. You can’t nest AUv3s like that (Apple’s limitation, not MiRack’s).

Ah man that sucks. I hate when that happens. At least you got a good update out of it 😅

  • Hi guys, I know some AUs are causing issues when loaded in miRack, please keep reporting those, an update will be released this week fixing those issues.

😆 as long as it works lol

I haven’t had a chance to check mine yet but hopefully they’re still there. It’s mostly effects I’ve made that I use as AUs.
