@Paulieworld put those cassette tapes through Brusfri. It might lower the noise floor significantly.

    I’ll message you later.

    Awesome track Paulie
    Interesting workflow and processes

(And thanks for the extra tracks too Paulie and reezygle)

The thing I love about this iOS stuff is that you can just make up a process on the fly. I doesn’t always work, but it’s always fun. The few times I went into a studio, I always felt under pressure, especially when the engineer kept looking at his watch. Thanks for listening.

Looks like you got that embedding thing figured out.

Yes. Thanks. (And I made the ultimate mistake of deleting the first strings part from the project . I didn’t save the midi either…..lessons learned)

I’ve done that, too. You’re not alone. Fire it up and go for version 2. In software development, that’s the version that works best.

I tried a different workflow with this. I just started coming up with assorted 4, 8, and 16 bar bits in Dm at 93bpm. As I added parts, I muted everything prior except the most recent bit. It’s sort of like the rumor game where people sit in a circle and whisper to the the next person, but change it slightly. When I had about 25 tracks, I just started dragging then onto the timeline.

    Works :+1:
I often have a similar approach, usually with (audio) bits from longer tracks. Seems like my internal metronome makes parts (often surprisingly) fit, as I don‘t use a grid.
But the biggest fun is to discover details that were simply played and combining parts that originally were minutes from each other. Cheating permanently... o:)
Your old stuff is impressive and Mahavishnu was also my 1st thought on Sarasvati.
Btw your 01/W inspired me to look for a M3R, while reason keeps telling me: you don‘t need that... :#

  • Nice track Paul. Feels a bit George Benson(ish) which is obviously good !
I don’t think things like this are cheating. If it is then 99% of the music posted here probably involves some cheating along the line 🤨

Benson… holy crap… we saw him in August at Ravinia. Probably the best venue on Earth to hear live music. You bring a picnic basket with meat, cheese and crackers, and a couple bottles of red wine, and you lay on a blanket looking up at the stars. We’ve seen Tony Bennet, Oscar Peterson, Yo Yo Ma, and so many others at Ravinia. Here’s a vid from that night. I didn’t shoot it. We were out on the grass… looking up at stars. I wanted to yell Shut up and play yer guitar!
