I am working on filtering out everything that is not needed to help with intermittent stuck notes or an out of tune condition.
In almost ALL cases using the session/preset switch to change the preset or session returns everything to normal.
For some reason a stuck “C” sometimes occurs while I am changing parameters.

Stuck notes are the worst, especially when they're intermittent. 😐

If you put that script into bypass mode when notes are held down, that will probably result in stuck notes.

Thanks but no. I have enough stuck notes now 😂
I really don’t have a lot but would like to narrow down the source. Still working on it.

Now that I am trying to filter out as many unused messages as possible it appears that some CCs have to go through the midi channel filter and some go directly to apps. Is this true?

I don't think I was clear about what I said. When you're playing through that script, if you hit the bypass switch while any notes are still held down, then release those notes while still in bypass mode, the note-OFF will be missed, resulting in stuck notes.

Say you're holding down a chord and you hit the bypass button, then you release the chord while still in bypass. The chord's note OFF messages will never get through, and you'll get stuck notes.

You need to be sure all notes are released before you hit the bypass button. Or, we need to extend that script to handle that situation, which is doable, but not simple.

I can't answer that without more detail about what apps and what the CCs are supposed to be doing.

I did misunderstand you. I was thinking of a bypass enable for Mozaic. That would be a nightmare.😵‍💫

I understand about all notes being released before pushing (bypass) what I have been calling the session/preset footswitch CC#20. That is NOT the problem. I tested it by doing the wrong thing.

I can make a note or chord stick by holding it before I push the footswitch . This will go away by releasing the key or chord and pressing it again like a normal lost midi off.

The stuck note I have been experiencing will not go off by pressing the note again. I think it may even be a note I did not play. It may be from a different midi channel. The only way I can get this note off is by repressing the bypass with a selected note thereby changing the preset or session. I think this resets everything.

    Just food for thought.

BTW, I have tried a lot of things in case they might have been a problem.
    1) Tried a different iPad
    2) Reloaded AUM
    3) Always turn off internet while using AUM
    4) Always reboot before loading AUM
    5) that crazy midi routing I was using.
    6) Extensive filtering now to Mozaic and Apps
    7) Air Drop off
    8) Eliminated unused sessions loading info
    9) I have been testing with only three sessions to KISS

I have experienced the intermittent stuck notes and transposed tuning in spite of all my efforts so far.

I think the next think I will try is to load AUM in my alternate iPad with just one app and Mozaic and see what kind of trouble I can get into.

    Thanks much for your help,
    Bruce

  • Is it always the same note? And is it always with the same plugin or AUM channel?

  • No, it is not always the same note but is often a “C” and to my ears can be on any of the three channels normally used. I have three generating apps that I use since paring down looking for trouble. LayR, Korg Module Pro, and Hammond B-3x. B-3x and LayR hang mostly. The Korg may also stick but since it is used for piano a hung note might just decay away and not be noticed. BTW, they are not used together but in three separate sessions selected by the session/preset (bypass) footswitch.

  • Hi Wim and others,
Little more info on this mornings testing. While using the Korg Moule Pro session the out of tune problem occurred. The piano sound dropped by a semitone I believe. It is easy to hear because my accordion is not affected.

It is difficult to recreate but if I hold the sustain and play a song and wildly strike keys sometimes the tuning drop will resurface within several minutes. Other times it comes from nowhere.
After several minutes of trying to make the error occur it did happen.

I had three instances of MIDISpy ready to capture info. What I found was:

    1) When I played C ( note 72) B was sounding from Module Pro. C sounded on my accordion.
    2) Mozaic was sending C (note 72) which is correct
    3) My WIDI JACK was sending the C(note 72) which is correct.
    4) Pressing note C (note 72) on AUMs virtual keyboard sounded the B
    5) By doing this several times I found that hitting my Pitchbend control on my accordion, which sends a pitch bend message, the correct tuning was restored.
    OR
    6) resetting the preset also restored the tuning

I don’t believe there is any physical problem with the Pitchbend from the accordion because the accordion notes were not out of tune and they are controlled by the same pitch bend.

In any case this is an extremely fast way to fix the problem while performing. I would like to avoid the problem altogether because I might not notice it immediately.

Anyway, an erratic Pitchbend signal appears to be involved.

I am performing this afternoon so I can test no more today. I intend to filter out PB going to Korg Module Pro and see if the error can still be repeated. Not a permanent solution because I use the Pitchbend.

    Thanks for interest.

    Hi Friends,
A little progress here in the detuning problem. I found that if I walk away for an hour or so the detune problem occurs. I have just a session with LayR and my controllers now as an experiment, no Mozaic. The detune happened so perhaps with this greatly simplified setup I can find the source easier.

I managed to pair it down even further. Not even using AUM. Airturn controller with expression pedals direct to LayR causes stuck note or detuning by one whole step when left for 20 minutes or so. BTW, the expression pedals are not controlling anything but they do send rapidly changing data.

The controller sustain works so I know it is connected.

I don’t believe the problem will occur without the expression pedals connected. I am trying that now.
