A discussion seems to have disappeared? Moderators? Edit: Solved.

I had a notification that someone (thanks @wim) had replied to my question in the ‘Let’s learn/relearn Drambo 2.0 together’ thread but as I clicked on the link it seems the discussion can’t be found?

Any ideas?

  • I can confirm via quick Google search the thread was deleted. Probably some spat broke out (I admit I hadn't paid attention to that thread), but the mods do have their reasons.

That would be very unfortunate. Hours of spare time spent to help others and the thread is "just gone" now? I don't think it was deleted. Maybe more like a bug in the forum software?

  • The forum was down about three hours ago - I couldn’t get it to open. Don’t know if it’s related?

  • There wasn’t any evidence of any disagreements on the thread that I noticed the last time I saw it yesterday.

  • edited November 2023

Not technically a mod anymore and haven’t been around in awhile but the new rules and @thesoundtestroom has been doing a great job. Certainly didn’t see anything that would be grounds for deletion and it was a pretty valuable thread. However, if deliberate action to delete was taken, there was certainly thought, discussion and a reason for it.

Could also have been a mistake. I reached out to @Michael for clarity and to see if it can be restored.

  • Was kinda wondering what happened also.

A spat wouldn’t necessitate/justify the entire thread being removed, imo. There was good info in it.

  • Must be a mistake, that thread had some good content

Especially considering this happens once in a while and things usually cool down and get back on track on their own for most threads.

  • That's a real shame. I was on the verge of properly delving into that thread to try and learn Drambo... :(
Hope it can be recovered somehow

  • Forum is real chewy right now, everything takes time. Never experienced that before as it's usually real fast, jumping around.

Probably related to the cloud flare path to your ISP. It’s seeming normal speed to me. I’ve occasionally experienced glitchiness when others haven’t and often when that has happened I’ve gotten a message about cloudflare

  • Cloudflare have had a massive outage today which has been affecting a lot of stuff. https://www.cloudflarestatus.com/incidents/hm7491k53ppg

  • I was just quoting @rs2000 when the 🧵 disappeared 😳. Hope it comes back, it was a very useful thread nd I’ve got a question that needs an answer 😄

From Wikipedia: Since at least 2017, Cloudflare has been using a wall of lava lamps in their San Francisco headquarters as a source of randomness for encryption keys.

    I hope they’ve kept them on :D

It’s not very clear because discussions themselves don’t have good changelog entries, but I can see a bunch of Drambo-related posts in the changelog which are probably it, which were deleted on November 2 by you, @CapnWillie 😄 Maybe a misclick? I’ll see if I can figure out how to undo it in a bit.

Yep. Certainly a mistake. When I logged in I noticed a few bots and spam threads but the site was also really unresponsive so while tapping the little boxes, I tapped a few times but noticed it highlighted the wrong thread when the page finally loaded. I thought I tapped cancel when it happened but apparently not.

My apologies @Michael also to the OP and to everyone who contributed to the thread. Please remove my mod options so I can’t do any further accidental damage. I deserve to be purged 🤦🏽‍♂️

  • Accidents happen @CapnWillie, I’m sure everyone here is rational enough to realise that; don’t beat yourself up about it.

These things are actually quite common when one tries to moderate a forum using a breath controller.

No way… you’ve been a great moderator for many years. We all have mishaps. And fighting bots is always appreciated.

Drambo advice just sucks people into that “all in one” app that is the correct answer for all questions. The other developers
might gain a few extra sales based on less Drambo advice.

Share the users @giku_beepstreet. NOTE: Dagger is a killer app. Probably the only synth anyone might need.

Thanks. I hope that was the only thread affected by my fat thumb as the Drambo thread in question wasn’t even one I remember clicking close to while deleting the spam. It happened twice to the BAM thread and once to the Dagger Synth thread but I clicked cancel so they weren’t deleted.

At any rate, I hope Michael can recover it because I was really using that thread to re-learn Drambo to use within Loopy Pro.

Drambo in Loopy Pro? That’s like crossing the beams in Ghost Busters:

Ghostbusters 101 Class Notes reads: "All packs have one important rule: do NOT cross the streams. This can cause a chain reaction, which may lead to total protonic reversal (or destruction at the cellular level). Crossing streams is like Russian roulette, protonic reversal may never happen. But it might."

🤣😂😭. This made me really lol. Apparently, everyone knows that I love me some breath controller.

Thanks @McD , also, I had no idea you play wind instruments too. Also agree about Dagger but I hope @giku_beepstreet shows us some love by making it possible to assign breath, expression controls to control it. I realize it doesn’t have the sexy matrix from Zeeon but hopefully there’s a way. He’s brilliant so it’ll probably take him a few seconds to figure it out.

I definitely don’t want to unleash hellish gouls, I was thinking more like just midi loops lol

  • Thanks @Michael

Supposed to make less work for you and here I am distracting you from your Loopy sorcery smh.

Hahah! Oh, man, nope, no sorcery going on the last month or so, we've been in Autism Burnout Crisis Mode, and now we're friggin' home schoolers! Yikes! Good thing I'm not a single parent.
