  • wow. i was thinking about this one today wondering where it had gone to.

you go first, @thinds, especially at that price. :D

  • I have already :-) Look forward to playing after work in about 6 hours.

  • if i may be so bold as to ask you to post first impressions it would be greatly appreciated. especially stability, and how well it works with Audiobus...?

  • Will do, be interesting after their previous AB efforts with csGrain. Hopefully they will get that sorted.......eventually.

  • Yep. That's why ypim waiting on this one. Have not been I'm,pressed with their support on CSGrain. AB still doesn't work for me...

  • Anyone else have this? Don't be shy now.

  • Had a brief fiddle while I got lunch. It does not show in the AB lists unless you start it up first. You are able to load in all three slots and I couldn't get it to crash. Not a thorough workout at this time.

  • with a heavy heart- I deleted CSGrain just a few days ago because of it's AB problems- is this the redemption?! IHOPE IT IS!!

  • Overall it's good. Had a few crashes after importing samples and trying to rename them & also lost audio a few times and had to restart the app. Plays 24 bit files without any problems. You could say that it's an upgraded, more stable version of Grain really. At least it's useable in AB and I can't really see them doing much with Grain now, as both apps are similar in approach and results. I am on Air, ios7 still.

  • well, i loaded up CSGrain last night, just to see, and for whatever reason, it's working really well for me now in Audiobus -- hot damn! Very excite!

I'll be curious to see whether other people had the same issues as you with CSSpectral. . . keep us posted!

Could someone please list the other fx beside the Phase vocoder?
I already have so much spectral fx

  • edited September 2014

@lala here is a link to the manual, which includes more detail about the available effects: http://www.boulangerlabs.com/products/csspectral/cs_spectral_manual.pdf

edit: The Spectral Effects start on p. 12

  • holy crap, do NOT read the manual unless you want to lust after this thing like whoa.

    :D

After reading that I reloaded Grain and it's working fine for me too. That's very odd as there have been no updates since I deleted it in frustration some time ago.

The crashes in Spectral were probably my fault, caused by trying to load a file while another was still playing. As for the loss of audio, I have not experienced it again since the initial restart. I have also rebooted the iPad, so maybe that fixed it?

You can get some wild soundscapes running Grain as input and Spectral as effect. Happy, happy, joy, joy.

  • Buchla-vile! this thing is deeeeep - an electoacoustic playground- I'm addicted to the cutters and the Sample and Hold !

Did anyone else need a bit of time to figure out how to get the effects to come to life on the init patch (in case this is affecting anyone else, you have to click on where it says "reverb", "filter", etc. to turn the effects on)? That was driving me insane for a few minutes!

Once I got it working...I gotta agree with everyone else here, this app is a beast! I just need to figure out the automation and will probably fall in a rabbit hole for like a week with this thing.

LOL! it took me a little more than a few minutes to figure out how to turn on FX- more like an hour! (^___^) thank you cannabis

    hahahahaha my sentiments exactly!!

  • @calcutta, long press on any button brings up the automation menu. This is the same in Grain.

  • This is going straight into my app hall of fame, alongside samplr and nanoloop.

Anyone getting audio breakup on ipad3? Mine is struggling (to be expected I suppose, this thing is a beast).

  • If you go to settings disable the 2D/3D effects. This might help.

Hmmm, I thought I tried that. I probably didn't hold the button down long enough :D Thanks for the tip!

  • dang -- now i can't wait to get home from work! wooo!

  • For me, I think this thing will a) render LiveFX instantly obsolete and b) make me forget about that Noisse Adrian Belew thingy.

  • Fuck, just watched these and now I'm off to the AppStore.

  • As IAA effect in Cubasis works great :-)

Yup first thing I did, and upped buffer. Didn't really help at all. Are all you guys on iPad airs?

  • I have iPad 4
