  • I’m expecting an app that perfectly recreates the sound of a “ground loop” with EU as the standard output and an IAP for that lovely 60Hz hum we hear in the US. Bonus points for anyone that knows the frequency of AC in the UK. Like many Heinbach apps I will wait for demo’s that indicate I can make useful sounds and not just non-useful sounds.
I still get excited by a well crafted Cello so I am not the target customer for these tone generators.

As YouTubers go Hainbach is fine but I'm getting kind of bored of plug-in companies throwing YouTuber names on their products hoping to incite more sales. Hainbach is clearly "making" plugins for himself that have very limited use cases towards making actual music. They're certainly novel and interesting and I have picked up a couple and found very little use for them once the coolness sheen wares off.

I completely disagree. I don’t see at all how they’re limited for making music? I use them all quite often to make…music. And I don’t really think it’s purely just to get sales. Hainbach is clearly interested in simply just making cool apps.

It comes back to multiple variations (from both musicians and non-musicians) of the phrase “A bad workman blames his tools.”

If the tool is right for the job use it; use a different tool if the one at hand isn’t the correct one.

Thanks for asking… we had to take our cat of 12 years to the ER after a rough night watching it slowly do down hill fast. Turns out it has a thyroid problem and needs MediCat insurance but that’s only for 65 year old cats in the US.
I’m learning that Vets are real Doctors that spent years in training and want to make full doctor’s pay. The bill is approaching Roli Seaboard Rise levels… still… it’s my wife’s true love. Love is keeping your animals alive at all costs.

We can either have fun taking the piss out of the lot of them. 😂 Verbally pick off the grumpy ones for sport.

Or, we can just stay off the forum until it returns to normal and just make music instead. 🤣

Yeah they’ve left multiple comments through this thread about that and I asked something similar but I’m not getting any replies so not sure what the thinking is. There are a handful of people here who seem to really dislike anyone that uploads to YouTube in any kind of professional manner and always complain about it any time it’s brought up in a thread.

I wouldn't go that far. I don't see any reason to assume anything about the poster and my response isn't meant to be judgmental but only to add a way to look it that I think is more reasonable.

?? Was that meant for me? I never judged the person or assumed anything about their character at all so I think you may have accidentally responded to me but I’m not sure.

All I was saying was some people here genuinely dislike posts about YouTubers (regardless of how “YouTube” they are) so that could be where they were coming from. It seems like these threads about someone with a YouTube channel almost always end up going this way.

Right, I totally agree. The person I responded to just seemed a bit ill informed and was throwing around a lot of assumptions and seemed a bit bitter about it.

Today?? I’d like to see a day where it’s not grumpy lol

This usually happens when anyone involved in YouTube is brought up though unfortunately so I kinda saw it coming.

Yes, it was in response to your post. It sounds as though I misread you.

It sounded to me like you were assuming that the post I referred to was motivated by their general dislike of YouTubers and that this person was one of them. I was only clarifying that I don't assume that is the case for that person's post. I guess I got the context wrong. Either way, I was clarifying my outlook, not taking issue with yours. Sorry if I that wasn't clear on that score.

We all have choices, and the choices are out there. We should all just be happy that we have that much choice.

I’m sure there would be some who would complain just as much if our choices were limited.

They sent us home with 5 medications to give a disagreeable 13 year old cat. I think he only really needs one of them so we’ll quickly shift gears down to one using the ol’ hypodermic solution straight down the gullet technique. It’s hyperthyroid medicine and we’re supported to wear gloves to give it to him and I expect we’ll wear it most days.

I take a hypo-thyroid pill so I suspect if he finds one of mine and eats it he’s a gon’er and if I wear his solution I’ll stroke out. Good times for the elderly. We are really fun to watch.

Gotcha! I guess we both misunderstood. I was just pointing out it was a possibility because I see a lot of similar comments from people when a YouTuber gets brought up here but in no way was trying to say that’s an exact reason or that’s what they meant. But there’s really no way to know unless they clarify themselves.

Regardless, I’m excited for what they have in store. I didn’t realize until this thread that some people didn’t really like Hainbach/Audiothing apps.

Yeah we’re really spoiled for choice right now and it’s probably only the beginning. I expect to see a lot more in the coming months, years, etc now that Logic Pro is here.

Like you, I’m happy we have those options. I don’t have any space for a big hardware setup anymore so I’m all iPad+midi controller (plus small hardware like Volcas, Pocket Operators). Having all these options helps me feel like I’m not really missing out on much.

He got home and went directly to sleep in a cold bathroom sink… something he’s started doing a couple days ago. Then without
any notice he moved and it took me 5 minutes to find him in a dark place sleeping in a cardboard box. I started leaving boxes around because he loves to go in and out of them and use his claws to tear them apart over the course of a week or two. It’s a better solution than finding mail he’s torn to shreds when it’s left on a counter.

I hope the meds bring him back to his normal habits bugging me every 4-6 hours for a new can of wet food. He craves the fish oil on the wet food and lately has resorted to just licking it dry and ignoring the rest. The younger cat comes in after and eats the leftovers.

Back to Heinbach… I hope he gets AudioThing to create the “two tin cans connected by a tight stretch of fishing line” with parameters for materials of the fishing line (cat gut, nylon, plastic, etc). Too analog?

How about really long lengths of optical fiber used for slap back echoes? Software emulations of Transceivers.

  • Oh my I love the sweater plugin! Perfect mock-up! We had joked about that a year back, but had no valid idea what it could do to sound (except act as a rustle based noise generator). In ended in the pile of “fun but not useful enough” ideas.

This plugin is a simple and practical one after the huge work Lines was, should be out tomorrow.

Depends what you’re doing, really. I love the things, so many interesting textures to explore.

You could hardly expect a plug-in developed in conjunction with Hainbach to be something he wouldn’t use himself.

Not saying they're not quality, they are. I get the niche market but simply haven't found a use for myself. My main criticism is using YouTubers as marketing schemes. Andrew Huang and Hainbach.

I can’t speak for Andrew, but I made Fluss together with Hainbach to become a part of his live setup. He has been using it live many times in many performances and it has replaced some heavy hardware gear.

It’s hardly just a matter of putting a label on an app I was going to make anyway as a cheap sales trick. That’s not how I roll.

True story: Klevgrand’s DAW LP already does this B)

That’s an app I decided I could live without but I could understand why many might want an app to convert modern audio quality to the features of prior generations like the gear I enjoyed in the 1950’s. My mom won a radio contest for 45 records and
there was an amazing collection of music from around the planet that the radio station was given for promotions but every year they would give them to a lucky listener that won the contest. A a 6 year old, I loved “Does You Chewing Gum Loose It’s Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight”. I still remember the words, 67 years later.

I think most of us know that and know that the intentions are pure. I’m not sure why there’s a couple of very salty people in this thread making pretty bold claims like that. Fluss is one of my most used apps as well. I’ve seen lots of videos and stories on IG of Hainbach using it in his sets. Shows up in his vids a lot too. Crazy how far the iPads come.
