Hate to be the one to tell you this. But the apex of cool album art peaked in 1976 with the Atlanta Rhythm Section. All downhill after this.

Weren’t some or all of the great classical composers commissioned by the church and or court?
Clicking on the link isn’t working for me for some reason.
Can't argue the Fuck + Yah on this one
Huh, that link is weirdly cauterized. I haven't seen that elsewhere. But you can search for the article with these keywords: "vice magazine why is ai art so cringe?"
And the commission line I think mostly refers to portraits of Medici-type benefactors who would necessarily demand a flattering representation rather than an artistic interpretation.
Never mind, I mixed myself up. I somehow forgot we were talking about visual art, so I was actually referring to Mozart, Hayden, and the others on the same record label.
Carry on.
Fair point though!
"why is ai art so cringe?"
Because anyone with zero taste can just post a donkey dj in single digit seconds so odds are you have never seen the good stuff.

ChatGPT monstrosities.
But I’m not sure of the pricing for this service.
I've seen good and bad AI art. I think the reason so much is cringe is that there is zero barrier to entry. People now have the ability to create stuff but they don't necessarily have the taste or the prompting skills. We'll all get a lot better at the prompting part with time but the having taste part might remain a problem (with the massive caveat that, of course, the subject of what is good taste is a huge rabbit hole)
Prompting wont be around for long. The plain english conversational style of chatgpt-ing will take over soon enough.
Nahh Brah, Stable Diffusion with Control Net rulz yo dawg etc![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
Even if using conversational language, people will still need the skill to make good results more likely and the taste and knowledge to filter out subpar results, don't you think? Whatever the language used, some people are capable of producing better results and some people improve in their abilities in this regard faster than others. It's just the same as music apps - yes they mean that anyone can make music but they don't guarantee any level of quality.
A chunk of my professional work is in the writing/editing space, and I see a lot of the writing equivalent of these images whenever we deal with AI-generated written content. It looks good enough at a passing glance, but it fails on scrutiny by anyone who knows better. The end user's skill still matters. Unfortunately, the "passing glance" is 98% of the game in marketing, so we expect to see AI take many a lunch because, well, "anybody" can do it.
Haha ok or that one too. And yet somehow despite being much better it all still gives off AI vibes. I sent a handful of cool ones to my wife and even she could tell it was AI.
The other problem is that you can’t roll a joint on digital album art.
But you can cut lines on your iPad while admiring a wallpaper of Michael J Fox cutting lines on a mirror from, Bright Lights, Big City.
Yah its like the early days of CG in the 90s where people reacted by saying 'it looks CG' or saying a drum machine 'sounds synthetic' as though the highest bar is for it to not show it's roots. New generations will be born into this stuff and simply not care. I mean just look at how the hideous uncanny valley 3d stuff in multibillion dollar game franchises are.
I’m still lacking in the prompt department.
yah for sure, just saying that 'text prompts' as they are currently known won't be around much longer. I don't consider chatting with Chat GPT to be 'text prompts' although maybe soon enough people will call it that and the olde disco diffusion style prompting will be gone. It is just mutating.
What if it was Marty McFly's ipad? I know there are ways to get around the rules
His hover iPad?
Damn they Would invent that, just hovers in front of your face all day
Thanks for the tip. Cocaine was the offending word, so I replaced it with baking powder. I kept your idea of Marty cause 😂.
I tried some different prepositional phrases and or modifiers, but I couldn’t get the perspective of the POV coke to sit on top of the actual iPad. But this accidentally makes it trippier that we’re sharing, in a bad kind of delusional bender way. Plus with an unexpected cameo of Doc yelling in the background, this felt complete to me.
Love this. It’s like an updated version of the famous ‘dogs playing poker’ image.
Every musician in the world: DALL-E make me the best cover art ever existed containing (random keywords)!
What a brave new world! What a freedom! Haha! 😂
Insane. A piece of art that no human would do. The “lines” of baking powder — troughs? — are the exact opposite of how you would expect them. Truly dream logic.
Hey, he could nearly have bought a bloody op1f with the money he spent on that coke 😂
Lol.
