Thx @pbelgium @Paulieworld. I don’t know why I think this is so funny, but I do.
Cool stuff @Paulieworld I can see (hear?) the Andy Summers thing.
I too, caved and bought the new Riffler Flow, more or less to satisfy my curiosity. Not like I don’t have real guitars to play, but these kind of things make making guitar sounds easier for other family members to deal with.. ‘specially late at night.
What I wish, for this and the original Riffler, is for him to add the ability to fire off these sounds with my own input (live midi, or my own sequencers). Now that would be cool!
It’s supposed to be! Have a little fun with this stuff. A famous economist once said, “Live for the short run. In the long run you’re dead.” Was that Maynard G. Krebbs? Maynard something or other. I’m glad my parents didn’t name me Maynard. My grandparents wanted to name me Finnur, but mom would have none of that. Magnus might have been cool. Hope the two of you are living for the short run. Peace.
What’s $14.99 in the long run, or even the short run for that matter? It’s a fun little app that apparently makes us sound like Andy Summers. I do wish it could play my MIDI files. I had some big plans for that. Oh well, it’s still a fun little app. I’m sure we’ll both find plenty of uses for it. Have a good one, bro.
I wish I never bought original Riffler and 4 Pockets Midi Strummer but got this instead. I’m apprehensive to buy Flow as I already have two guitar apps that don’t really do anything for me and my likes.
But damn this was pretty cool @Paulieworld
Maynard Ferguson, bro. Can’t do better than that. We’re definitely in it for any kind of run we can get. So far it’s pretty happy.
FWIW I think this adds a lot more and is a totally different vibe from those apps. Similar to the OG Riffler in UI but sound wise it’s quite different. Probably a top app of the year for me. Top 10 for sure.
I have quite a few apps that I sometimes feel like I regret buying. However, I think I have gotten a little something out of every one. Sometimes, it's just the experience. I think that we, as IOS music makers, are fortunate to have a small, dedicated army of developers who create these apps for us. They vary in quality and utility, but each one has it's own niche. These guys are probably not getting filthy rich from their efforts, so I like to support them when I can. I remember the days when buying a new bass, synth or amp was a really big deal. Now we can pick them up for lunch money. Actually, I think I have spent more on lunch!
This is my first ride on Riffler Flow. I found a few things that I didn't like, but I think I figured a few ways to get around them. I can't use it for everything, but it's perfect for when I want a certain sound. Thanks for listening and commenting. Have a good one!
Hiya Paul
I saw them either at the tail end of 1978 or early 79 at Bath University - they were supporting Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias …as you do! I was part of the student crew and we did their lighting that night. Anyway, great vibe, very enjoyable song - sounds like a labour of love to overcome some of the app’s glitches, but excellent an excellent and tasteful track resulted.
I would have loved to be part of that. I was just in the audience. I think I paid 5 dollars.. This wasn’t a labor of love… just a fun little jam session. Glad you liked it.
I saw Sting and Paul Simon a few years ago, strange combination but it worked !
Thought I’d just try and derail the thread a bit more 😊
Another great tune Paul , as somebody said earlier when you press play on your tracks your never sure what’s going to hit your ears but it’s always seems to work out pretty good !
Jealous! I missed my chance to see Paul Simon when he came through last and then he announced he was retiring. Never liked Stings solo career as much as the Police though.
Hey Tony! When Sting went solo, his music became more pop and vocal oriented. Both are great songwriters, and competent musicians. I can easily imagine them together. It probably made for a great date night.
I like to try to do different things. It doesn’t always work out! I think the aggressive rock oriented stuff gets more plays, though. My next one is really different. Thanks for listening. Have a good one!
