Oh man, that is so good! Seeing how Novak uses it is inspiring. And collaborating with others is also very inspiring. After I finish lunch, I will get started on the new collaborative OP-1 Field EP! I waited for today (Sunday) to challenge myself to complete the EP before Christmas Eve (so within one week!)
@abf Check this out. 😎
Personally I like it experimental and challenging but yeah for your sake maybe not the best idea 😂
I can’t get over how nice it looks. The original looked amazing too but the Field takes it to another level. Wow.
And the speakers seems like they sound great (for what they are).
Yes! sick sick sick
haha you are crazy good, jwm. It just flows out of you. I'm excited to hear this ep.
I agree, lol. Besides, it's not just for the potential audience here but also on Facebook.
Oh yes, the speakers have a bit of meat on them. (Shit, michael_m is definitely gonna see that comment. 🤣 ) And they sound good. I could even mix down on them sans headphones, but then my neighbours would probably complain.
Thanks mate. Well, check your messages as I sent you an m4a of the finished track. Thank god for Logic Pro's Mastering Assistant. I really didn't care for mastering "by hand", so what a huge time saver.
And it is sooo good! Thanks for sending it.
I love this track. It's fantastic. This ep is going to be excellent!
You're welcome mate, and thank you so much! Up next is PostPunk requested by @chrka . Think I will make it a somewhat vocal track since I've grokked the vocoder (and can simply turn the signal dry to simply run my voice through Mother Reverb). Just gotta find a good guitar sample one shot that fits from op1.fun . Think I'll finally make use of the Spring reverb on that.
Okay @chrka check THIS out. 😎
Can't wait to write the lyrics! It's gonna be amazing! A song about an ex friend of mine (not from this forum thankfully).
Exciting stuff! I figured the OP-1 would be a great fit for postpunk and such.
Looking forward to the finished version!
Man, you were right. I doubted myself for a second, but I think I grokked the style and feel of it. Sent you a message with a link and such. Cheers mate.
Okay @HotStrange it's your turn. Check THIS out!
Ooooo Neo soul with some experimental touches??? Sign me UP 🤩
Absolutely nailed it brother!
Is that droning sound a sample? Sounds like some filter manipulation maybe?
Oh clumsy me I forgot to answer. The drone is DNA synth and I was manipulating it live into an 8-bar loop. 😅
@michael_m Check THIS out! Not sure if this is what you had in mind for "Dub House", but it's exactly at 101.5 bpm in Bb Locrian. I'm high as shit rn. 🤪
Sounds good to me!
Yeah, you look like you’re at the point where you need to put a pizza in the oven… 😂😂😂
Excellent! I'll structure it out.
🤣 Lol! If only I had a kitchen in my tiny flat. Ah well, I'll order from Pizza Shuttle up the street.
@rottencat Your turn. Now there seems to be a lot of variety of music when I look up Ambient Jungle, so if you can provide some youtube examples, I can definitely grok the style better.
Ah! This genre is wonderful! Thank you so much. I'll get to work.
Okay @rottencat I'm not sure if this is what we were looking for. 60bpm was a bit too slow for the sequencers, so I doubled the speed to 120bpm so I could program 16th notes as opposed to 32nd notes. 😅 I put the kicks on the 1, 7, and 13. I used a 4-bar sequence for the snares (i.e. 64 steps) as it'll break my mind to try and count up to 176 steps for an 11 bar loop. While there's no "chance" parameter in the OP-1 Field (yet), I did program the hats on a 44-step loop so it would vary throughout the 16 bars I created.
The bass is basically a drone, there's pads, and there's a lead melody. Hopefully this shall suffice, and then I can structure it all out.
I am probably late, didn't noticed this thread sooner, but anyway :
1/ E
2/ Phrygian
3/ 138
4/ oldschool goa (don't be afraid, it's much simpler than modern psytrance)
5/ 4/4 time
6/ take as inspiration this track, make something like that
Absolutely love that Pizza Hotline album. Great one.
@dendy @dreamcartel We'll see if I have time to work on those. I'm planning a Christmas Eve release for the EP. I have my current project and then two others to work on.
@BiancaNeve Can you provide a couple examples by what you mean "Punk with flowers in its hair"? Thanks.
I wondered how you would deal with dnb at 60 bpm and you have hit upon an ingenious solution.
Sorry I made you do math.🙂
What you have posted here sounds great!
Phew, that's excellent. Thank you for the feedback.
Errrr not really not sure it’s been done. Was inspired by the Sandi Thom song. Was kind of thinking Sex Pistols meet Joni Mitchell or Scott McKenzie meets the clash.
Hehe. I'm still rather lost here as to which direction to start in. 😅
Start with E Phrygian @ 100bpm acid Jim
Hahahaha
