Kajita v Yukawa?

I’ve seen the videos but they’re mostly using presets. For those of you that own both and customize it to your liking, which do you prefer and why?

  • I only own Yukawa as my brain can’t handle Kajita UI. Yukawa is great, lots of options. Complex as well.

  • Same, I need to spend more time with Kajita, but Yukawa is in my top 5 delays ever.

  • I prefer Kajita because of the filter sequencer. They’re really two different apps with different functions though. Not directly comparable.

    Both!

Both! One is a gate sequencer, and another is a tap delay.

Koshiba is the gating fx, not Kajita!

But yes, Kajita and Koshiba are both really intesting, though I rarely use either for some reason.

Oh thanks! I was talking about Koshiba above. I have them all, get them mixed up.

Yeah, I have a hard time with Japanese names. You are right, I will edit the post. 🫣

  • I used Yukawa in this track for the spaced out chords.

    I love this!

  • Kajita is great but I use Yukawa far more often because the UI is waaaay better. Kajita is mostly a preset player for me at this point. I need to properly learn it one day but if you want something easier to dive into, Yukawa for sure.

  • Is there a dark interface for Kajita?

As a delay junkie, can I know your complete top 5?

I know you’re not asking me but as a fellow delay AND list junkie I simply couldn’t resist 😂

    Timeless 3.
    Wires/Mantis.
    MagicDelay.
    Other Desert Cities.
    Tap Delay.

Whew that was hard. I just went with my most used but I could’ve easily named 5-10 more lol

  • Kajita is like a wild beast, it’s so strong and powerful, but you need to spend time taming it properly to have control over it.

At the moment, I’m in a phase where I can give Kajita food without losing my hand in the process. ;)

Not many finished tracks I don’t have Koshiba on something somewhere at some point. I love teaming it up with Replicant after it and FluxPro or Perforator (to tame Replicant a bit)

  • I first thought this thread was going to be about an obscure Toho movie…
    Yukawa is a fantastic delay

  • I use them mainly on guitar and love them both. Totally unique three (or four) dimensional effects. TBH, I’m not much of a preset builder so the extent of my tinkering is to find a cool preset and see what happens when I change a few parameters.

Another good one in the same genre is TTAP.

Haha, sure, I have too many, but it's not enough.

    iOS

    1) Other Desert Cities
    2) Yukawa
    3) Dubstation
    4) Ultratap
    5) Tap Delay

    Desktop

    1) Valhalla Delay
    2) Other Desert Cities
    3) Dubstation
    4) Dual Delay X
    5) Ultratap

Too many others, not used enough like Delight, Timeless, etc.

  • This thread inspired me to go back to these two apps, i used them a lot when they were released but they’ve slipped out of rotation lately.

Both are capable of absolutely gorgeous modulation, a simple synth can blossom into a living organism.

Don’t forget Koshiba too! The whole trilogy is great. My hope is that they’ll release a resonator/distortion effect next.

  • I’m gonna eventually get these…. I was gonna get one of these today but I ended up getting Red Animal and BB17 instead lol

Next month’s royalties I might just get all three 😎

Heck yeah! BB17 is great but I’ve yet to use it in anything. Red Animal is 11/10 though. The whole trio of organs from GSI have become essential for me.

BB17 is phenomenal and I’m using it kind of how I planned to use Agonizer !

Red Animal is a lot of fun to play so far… I’ve been doing some trippy stuff with tb reverb on it 😎

What do you mean using to taming Replicant? Like less glitching ratchet?

Replicant can have a bit of a mind of its own - which is great and is exactly the point - however I often like it to lock in a bit more with the groove of the track, so I throw either (or sometimes both) of those after it and then let it get as wild as it wants - the wilder the better - safe in the knowledge that it’ll always fit rhythmically with my track regardless of how random or messy its output becomes 👍😊

Koshiba has actually stayed in rotation since day one, it's one of my iOS mainstays :)

I slept on it until a few months ago as I already had many gate sequencers but then saw a demo that surprised me. Bought it, fell in love with it, and now it’s one of my go to’s for that. Has a handful of unique features that others don’t (like most Icegear apps really).

What are your thoughts on Kajita and Yukawa? I'm a die-hard fan of everything IceWorks. It looks like we are in the same group, haha.

Sound wise I love them both but Kajita’s UI is very not good lol. Yukawa is excellent and the UI is much more manageable. I think their effects are really great. I’m surprised they haven’t made a resonator yet though.
