This thread inspired me to go back to these two apps, i used them a lot when they were released but they’ve slipped out of rotation lately.

Both are capable of absolutely gorgeous modulation, a simple synth can blossom into a living organism.

Don’t forget Koshiba too! The whole trilogy is great. My hope is that they’ll release a resonator/distortion effect next.

Koshiba has actually stayed in rotation since day one, it's one of my iOS mainstays :)

I slept on it until a few months ago as I already had many gate sequencers but then saw a demo that surprised me. Bought it, fell in love with it, and now it’s one of my go to’s for that. Has a handful of unique features that others don’t (like most Icegear apps really).

What are your thoughts on Kajita and Yukawa? I'm a die-hard fan of everything IceWorks. It looks like we are in the same group, haha.

Sound wise I love them both but Kajita’s UI is very not good lol. Yukawa is excellent and the UI is much more manageable. I think their effects are really great. I’m surprised they haven’t made a resonator yet though.

The only thing is, I remember Oat Phipps used to comment that he hated their filters, and I hadn't paid much attention before that, but when I did start to pay more attention to their filters, indeed the didn't sound that great to me. Same with the reverbs.

Hmm I’ll have to pay attention next time. Speaking only for the effects but for their synths as whole?

  • Just this morning, I have Rozetta Particles playing a string patch on King Of Digital into Kajita. Gloriously spacey and unpredictable. Logic Drummer keeping time while I noodle on guitar through a chain of Valves, Reels, Secta, and Springs. Endless mesmerizing fun.

We are SO fortunate to have all these amazing apps to play with.

Kajita is a very complex, two stage multi-tap delay. Oat probably don’t like the sound of those filters, but that doesn’t mean that they are bad.

Also, in which other multi-tap can you filter the body and the tail of early reflection separately? I’m just saying, don’t give up on Kajita just because it is so complex.

I’m not yet fully into Kajita, but I'm just playing with phase-inverted taps, cutting through signal to make a gated rhythm. ;)

I understand you, but any other way will limit all the features and possibilities that make Kajita a unique and wonderful multi-tap. We are happy to have so many choices, isn’t that fantastic?

One more thing, did I miss your birthday? Sorry if I did. I wish you a belated happy birthday. 🤩

I took it as them as a whole but if so I highly disagree! 😎

Thank you 🙏 I had work the entire week and day of my birthday so it kinda just came and went this year lol

I get what you mean though. And I don’t want to come across like I dislike Kajita. It’s still a great app that I’d like to fully learn. But even just tweaking presets randomly until it sounds good is enough for me considering how little I paid for such a cool effect.

  • I wonder which one would sound better on Ruismaker Noir?
