  • Is the bundle price for this available yet? Am planning to buy when it's live!

  • @Michael_R_Grant - It's not unfortunately. The problem was that you can't make a bundle until the app is released, and even though we did it as soon as we hit release, it still takes them a looong time to review it. Don't really understand why they must review bundles, and if they do I don't understand why it's taking almost as long as an app review…

  • Probably something to do with the complicated mathematics of bundles.

  • @BiancaNeve: That's probably it! Their servers are running warm to calculate just the "right" price for every app store user out there.. ;)

  • Bundle offer available now, just 'completed' with ScaleGen for 5 Euro. Never realized there are so many scales! Will be interesting to explore...

That could make for some seriously good April Fools' Day pranks.

  • Hi @Phil999 and thanks for your suggestion - we have it on our list. It's not as easy as it might first seam though, since ScaleGen can have:
    1) scales that have more than 12 notes per octave
    2) scales that go up and down in any order
    3) scales that are more than 127 notes long

The question is how you map these situations… But we have it on our list, and we will think about it. Please let us know if you can think of more things!

    thank you very much Jesper.

My thought is rather simple. To replace the on-screen input panel with an external keyboard that is better to play. Better to play with velocity.

The problem with non-12-tone scales is something. You can play them with an ordinary keyboard, but you have to get used to it. Other instruments may not match to the tuning. Although I must admit I'm not experienced enough.

Personally I constrict myself to 12-tone microtunings for the moment. Tune single notes and still have an octave when you play an octave on the keyboard. This is very exciting already.

Non-12-tone scales is something I will explore later. There will be a couple of problems. I play Samplemodeling instruments with the EWI4000s. These instruments can be retuned to microtonal scales, but only in a 12-tone tuning. The same with FM8.

    v.1.2 with MIDI input.

    Thank you very much!

    Edit:
Tested today with external keyboard, ScaleGen+Animoog (mono mode). Works exactly as expected. This is really great. And I think there are many more options. Polyphonic mode with MIDI channel swapping, using wireless networks for in- and output ... this is all possible now!

I had my problems (well actually still have) to create microtonal scales with ScaleGen. But loading .scl files via FileBrowser (and then open in ...) worked fine. I use ScaleGen as translator app in the same way as I use Scala on a PC. And that's actually all I need. I'm really glad that this app exists.
