Buttersynth has the best UI of all iOS synth. Riffler is good but note that you can't feed it with midi input or anything (but has midi out), so while the results are very good you need to like the UI and work with it.

Midi input for Riffler will be in the next update. It’s well late but it is coming.

  • Thanks for the DSP/CPU heads up @offbrands

I saw your remark about crashing, definitely report it, I’m sure the developer would be interested. It could have something to do with whatever iOS you are on.

Can’t find a direct contact on their website and they don’t seem to be using their x, formally Twitter, account.

Though reading through the extremely in depth manual is quite helpful.

A note about CPU & RAM usage

ButterSynth does not stop you building chip-frazzling mega-patches and maxing out your DSP/CPU. Combining (up to) six synthesis engines plus unison, polyphony, oversampling, complex modulation and dense layers of effects, you'll quickly discover that ButterSynth can become a real monster of a synth — both in sound and DSP requirements. This doesn't mean ButterSynth requires more CPU than other AUv3 synths on iOS, but it does mean that during the course of experimenting and building your own patches you will quickly learn the DSP limits of your own particular device.

This is on page 7 of the manual.

As many are aware, I’m sure, often times when an app is used for certain purposes that the lay person might not understand when browsing the App Store or the description of an app, they put a warning or word of caution about it within the store description, like when an app is AUV3 so needs a host, or when it’s a MIDI app so it doesn’t produce sound, as to potentially warn a buyer from purchasing or expecting something the app is or isn’t made for.

(Obviously people don’t always read the description and the complaints will still happen but still this helps a bit)

I feel like this would be a great addition to the store description and even a pop up for the app when launched to help users understand.

I totally get it now and not that I was upset, I was just informing the forum with my previous posts, but if I was this would obfuscate those feelings, as it’s a heavy duty app and it can be pushed past its limits and I was well informed.

I wish I had seen this from the app description, or read any words about it being an app that will let you crash it before! Not page 7 of the PDF you can only see when you click the settings, scroll all the way down to about, click about, go to the bottom, and click manual.

Just some thoughts. Glad it runs much better on my phone. If anyone knows how to connect an iPhone to an iPad through AUM so I can play instruments on both and can point me to any resources that would be cool. I feel like I read it before but I can’t find it.

I wasn’t expect much from this, but it’s a quirky little transition monster. Just scratched the surface, next step is to see how it plays with others.

Here’s what is up on the Appsliced site.

  • Forgive my confusion

I see in Appraven itself, the Lifetime is $14.99, but the full price (crossed out) is $19.99

Does that mean there is a $10 sale in the next days?

Oooohhh yeaaaa! One of my all time favorite ever! WARNING throw a limiter on the channel though for sure if you get too crazy with it!

  • Info from the app itself shows it’s already half off. I think this is the lowest price so far because the last sale was around $16 or so ? I didn’t do it then and regretted it so might do it now.

  • Also I believe they are saying the sale will last through the end of the week, since it is now the start of the week and the sale has begun.

  • I wonder what you'd pay for 🤔

Apple's API for app prices is publicly available and I'm sure we have more than one coder here to have our own musicappaholicapricedrophippieyippiemaniacdatabase, so to say.

All it really takes is one meaty half price sale on a $30 app, and that discounted lifetime license has paid for itself. For anyone regularly buying apps on sale, I think AppRaven Lifetime is a no-brainer.
