I don't consider apps like this free at all. There are no features without either activating the demo period or starting a subscription. Nothing is free. Which is the issue I guess. How to tell the "free" from the "free but not really free when it says free just like an actually free app or app with some free functions".

Real free apps are usually B grade and obviously not sustainable. A 7 day free trial is awesome. If it’s a good app $14.99 (AUD) a year is practically an irrelevant cost.

Some truth right here. There are some free apps that are great, but few and far between like wider and most are not great. The ones I use a lot, like magic switch, magic dice, are great in their own right I think operate as introductions to baby audio.
Speaking of which the way they trial IHNY2 is more my kind of thing. A weeks free trial is lost on me. I’ll start it and it gets lost in a lot of other new app thing/life things and it runs out. If you can give me a freebie that shows me how useful it could be to me, but withhold certain features I’m fine with that as an introduction. I realise my preferences aren’t everyone’s and it’s a hard space to navigate.
