I've not moved to the v2 version of any of the Affinity apps, and in my opinion I've made the right decision for now. The Affinity forums are littered with problems with these updates and people are still angry about their very public statements about Affinity apps being a "one-time" purchase instead of following Adobe's rentware model. Their v2 of all of their software basically (instead of updating the v1) threw mud in the face of their customers.

I think the people who are angry about the one-time purchase thing are misinterpreting ‘one time purchase’ as meaning ‘lifetime free updates’ when they are not the same thing.

It’s surely not unreasonable for full version upgrades to be new purchases, is it? When Photoshop was a one time purchase, you still needed to pay again for the next version upgrade when it came along.

The only time I’ve encountered a promise of lifetime free updates is with Image Line and FL Studio.

Personally, I'm not angry about it but I still have no plans to upgrade to version 2.

Please remember that it’s easy to misinterpret text. I’ve have issues where people thought I was always being defensive but I was just typing out my thought process. It came across as if I was offended, but that wasn’t the truth at all. I was literally just typing out my thoughts, in a friendly open discourse way.

I think you’re exaggerating the situation here - nothing wrong with the step to version 2 of Affinity Suite by Serif Labs (in my opinion)…

Pretty big differences between subscription and roll out a new big upgrade that demand us to pay again - version 1.x still exist, is maintained and working well, although without new core functionalities that v2 is offering…

To pay again for software when it move forward to new heights is a normally situation - the new Ableton Live v12 is that a free update?
All software companies demands steady income and Serif Labs isn’t any exception…

By the way - I’m running Affinity Suite v2.x on all three platforms without any hussle…

  • Audiothing Valves is $9 off at $5.99

  • JAX Convolutor PE is $4 off down to $5.99

JAX Convolutor Pro is $2 off at $17.99

Both making a return to the App Store with update

  • Utility

MP3 Converter - Video to MP3 is a free app but the premium IAP is free too usually $.99

To unlock open and select crown in upper right corner, then unlock premium for free.
