Curious about the Riffler apps. Will it work with a provided chord sequence and generate guitar parts?

Riffler Flow does, but not the original one. You can transpose a riff and select it’s mode/scale. You can export and paste the midi sequence though.

Edit: just updated and Riffler also lets you change chords. And bass bites for inversions, and there’s rests and arpeggios now! Pretty sweet!!

I wish I knew how many styles of arpeggios are in Riffler Flow. Otherwise it can be easier to set up many measures of Chordjam and then route them to very tweaked Mela arpeggiators, strummers, and etc.

As aside tips for using Riffler with other apps. ..

    Riffer:
I've gotten great results routing Riffler midi to Riffer, so the Riffer midi only pipes out based on its input. The scale degree of Riffer notes change in a very pleasing way, and the notes tend to only trigger on the offbeat so there's a great groove.

Chordjam with Mela Midifx and Rozeta Scalar and Mozaic Rambo Humanizer:
Program the same chord sequence in Riffler but use more exotic chords in Chordjam. Pipe the midi to Scalar locked to scale, then Mela's strummer, then to Rambo. Instant harmonized accompanying strums.

    Steel Guitar Pro:
Sounds great when used with the above midifx combos.

    Ibassist:
Either program the same chord changes for instant great bass, or route the Scalared chords in for a more harmonized bass, or route the Riffler midi an octave or two down into ibassist. Then use AUM's midi filter to filter out the higher notes coming from Riffler for some great doubling up of the low notes.

I'm tempted by Flow, but wonder how much the arps are really going to sound much more guitar-like than what I usually do since I do strive to make guitar arps sound pretty interesting already using ideas like above. I'm sure it's better, but trying to be frugal.

That trick with Riffer sounds interesting! Do you have an example you could share?

Regarding frugality… same boat here. And these seas are rough.

Hey friend. I don't have a recorded example, but if you ftap the keyboard icon at the top of Riffer, create a scale in the same key as Riffler, then pipe in the midi, it will keep the same pattern of notes and their intervals, but will only trigger them when they receive notes from Riffler (though the sequence will run notes will be muted essentially until Riffer receives note-in), and all notes will still be the same intervals apart. It's fun to do with any midi sequence, but what makes Riffler special is the genre-specific timing and how it will hang on a certain string/part of the fretboard, which gives the midi stream the "idiom."

Yeah, inflation has made things much less fun when these sales roll around. All said, I'll probably just skip buying something and go for Riffler Flow, but I'm definitely feeling anticipated guilt/regret. Just got gas and went to the doctor and had to get meds... 100 bucks just like that!

    Cool idea @NoncompliantBryant!

Thanks! What makes Riffler so special is how it so identifiably plays creative midi streams in different rock guitar idioms... No other self-generating sequencer that I've run across does this in such an idiomatic way except for the Pure Acid sequencer, which by default does acid perfectly (Rozeta Basslines is a strong contender but I find that you need to tweak sequences more to get it going).

Since it's so strong with the idioms, I find that making other sequencers base their output on the rhythm and scale degrees of Riffler gives the rest them an anchor that keeps the overarching sound of all the midi very coherent!

  • Oh damn I remember really wanting this for a long time… but it’s either that or upright piano , and it likely won’t fit the sound of our current project anyway

  • So, any big unique things about Stellarvox if I have verbs like Eos 2, Blackhole, Spacefields (on direct setting), Altispace, Alteza, Bleass Reverb and Shimmer? I love a good verb but if I can get most of the sounds from my current arsenal, I will have to be a good boy and pass.

Also, any Glitchscaper users? I love making interesting, haunted soundscaper.. Can this be tamed so it's less Autechre and more Brian Rno (with a David Lynch Mashup)? Also, can this thing do anything melodic or are those tone generators used more for random scary sounds?

  • Martin Varga Sale

    Utility

GamingVPN 1.1.1.1 VPN is a free app, but the Lifetime Premium is currently free usually $199.99

To unlock, move through introduction, lifetime originally shows $199.99 but if you tap it it changes to $0.00 then hit continue at the bottom. This little switcheroo sketched me out a little, but I confirmed it did not charge me anything. I’ve been really wanting to find a free way to watch BBC Player in the States, I did unlock this one, but haven’t tried it yet. App Raven does have a decent amount of 👎 on this one so not sure what to make of it just yet.

    Riffler Sale

Riffler is $7 off at $7.99

Riffler Flow is $7 off at $7.99

Jazz Solo Creator is $1 off at $.99

Any of these worth it if you have Riffler already?

Jazz Solo Creator is cool, but it’s better used as an app geared toward practicing guitar, soloing, jamming; basically playing along to the solo creations, or potentially using them to find inspiration. The stuff it creates is generally decent, however you only get a few sliders to adjust the outcome. For me, the main drawback is no midi export, or any type of connectivity. the sound is a simple, possibly a small sized soundfont so you probably won’t be doing any screen recording to grab the audio.

I’m eyeing up Riffler Flow myself… I really like the original and I think Flow will fit better with my style so I’m quite tempted atm.

It’s just a matter of genres, then? Hmm… considering the original can be turned into MIDI, I’m not sure why they aren’t added to the original ad IAPs…

It’s the audio too, if you use that aspect of the app. I don’t have Flow yet, but I think it’s the way the midi is played or generated. I used the word style earlier cause I couldn’t think of a better term on the spot, but the midi it generates seems to be a bit different in nature.

I do wish you could lock the 1/2 bars, but I could see that being added. Here’s hoping.
