19.99 apps -> 9.99
14.99 apps -> 7.99
The filter and filter envelope are a bit wonky but you can coax nice acid sounds out of it. It’s not a straight 303 clone like Pure Acid. Gets closer to a 303 sound than Troublemaker though. Some interesting additions like amp envelope and a flexible distortion stage. Continuously variable wave shape is a nice touch. Sequencer is better than @FPC’s Behringer but not as nice as PA. All the controls show up as AU parameters so that’s good.
At $2.99 I don’t regret buying it but I’ll probably still reach for PA or Chicago first.
Yup yup. Been eyeing up BA-1

Can’t believe that I missed Transit was released on iOS. Cool app—I have it for desktop.
I can’t wait until more creative multi-fx like Infiltrator or Arturia’s Efx Motions show up on iOS. Anything come to mind? Turnado is already a favorite and I also have the Koala and Elliott Garage FX apps.)
Mariana -- deep as the trench and sounds lovely
BA1 is brilliant - one of my most used synths. Lovely retro sound. Both choices are really good.
I only have Mariana, so probably biased. BA-1 might use less CPU, but seems extremely basic. I’d rather use TAL or other similar synths for such grunt work, than adding another synth to the pile. Mariana can do some really cool sounds that BA-1 cannot, if that counts. Of course, if you don’t like fiddling and programming your sounds, then maybe Mariana isn’t for you. It does have some good preset packs available for purchase though. The answer probably depends on what you already have and what you need. I happen to really like the completely customizable keyboard in Mariana as far as scale and frequency is concerned.
FWIW desktop Mariana is also on sale right now, for $50
Like some, I only have Mariana and love many of its sounds. I've not programmed many sounds myself, as the sounds I use it for are only a few tweaks away from the supplied sounds to be honest.
I have read that some have problems with BA1 due to its size, but I have this issue with many synths now due to old eyes lol. Even Mariana can be a pain to see in some hosts with onscreen keyboards.
As for recommendation, that's not easy these days as so many apps to choose from. At last count I have about 500 music apps on my iPad and 250 or so that I no longer use. So, if I recommend an app, it could just be my flavour of the month! One things for sure what you have and how you use these tools is more important to a choice than what's rocking my ios monthly splurge. Saying that, it's often nice to hear others opinions, so my fave ios synths this month are: Mela 5, Mariana and Twin 3. My reasons are that I find them all nice sounding and all quite easy to manipulate on a touch screen. I find Mela 5 especially nice as I like the XY pads to manipulate sounds during sequences. Mariana is similar in that it's interface is easy to use imo. BA1 looks a decent synth, but the interface may be problematic for my fat fingers. On the BA1 plus side, it comes with a heap load of presets and sometimes less is more in a mix. BA1 might just be the job for some uses and I know I will end up buying it anyway lol.
So martians is not universal? The other moog apps do run on M1…
It is not, you can only get Mariana for Mac from Moog directly, they're not selling it in the app store. And FWIW it is an AUv2 on Mac, not AUv3. So one should not expect to be able to move a Logic project with Mariana seamlessly between the platforms.
That’s too bad, that was one of the most appealing parts about Moog apps… thanks for thé heads up !
Thanks! It's good to have them up and running smoothly again after all these years.
I had hours of fun with these on my iPhone 4. Very much looking forward to there continued future
I regret not buying Mariana when it launched, but I’ll definitely snap it up if it goes on sale.
Only slightly related, but can someone confirm whether or not Moog Model D & Mariana support family sharing? Their App Store pages don’t list this as a feature, but Model 15, Animoog Z, & the Moogerfoogers do. Seems a bit inconsistent.
iDousyn Lite is free usually $1.99
Music App IAP sales.
That's awesome, I'm glad you get to mess around with them again.
Yeah. I can understand them wanting a separate sale, but I wish the desktop app was AUv3!
Any idea how long the Baby Audio sale is? Bandcamp Friday starts in a few hours and hoping to be able to take advantage of the sale 😩
Until May 19th!
I take back my other comment. I couldn’t resist and bought BA1. Love it! Lot easier to use than I thought and the Glissendo slider and general sound are stand outs. Complements Mariana well.
