Another Space Echo! This one with Chorus
By lack of a demo, here a YouTube of the original unit.
Nice! I'm hoping someone will make also a guitar-centric demo.
EDIT: There are available audio samples on Nembrini page, 1st chorus sound is beautiful.

Thank you @ninobeatz for the news, and @Slush, for saving me time to find a quality demonstration. 🤩 Now let's play with that old but new fantastic chorus!
Nice and it includes sync options
(Almost) same as Outer Space but cheaper and more features?
The "SOS" part hints at an endless sound-on-sound looping feature, but looking for details suggests that might not be entirely correct?
🤝
Not bought this one yet, but I think Outer Space has deeper sound color tweaking options, like different kind of tapes and wow/flutter/noise. The Roland RE-201 is an older more vintage sounding unit, and from what I have read about it the 501 is a cleaner sounding upgrade (not hifi by all means). But I’ll bet it can sound dirty as hell with some tweaking.
Damn, not sure what to do with this app, I love the look and the extra chorus, but Outer Space still needs some serious workout in my little virtual studio.
Wow, that sounds beautiful! I’m drowning in delays but that chorus thing is really cool. Off to the app store…
Man I need to get off this website! I’m lusting over this and I bought 2 new delays (including Outer Space) in the past 2 weeks 😂
Other than chorus I think Outer Space has more control over the heads (eg panning), soft clip, touch drop etc. Also no wow/flutter control. They’re quite different I think which makes me miserable as I want this too now 😄
Note that only the chorus is BBD, the delay is supposed to emulate the original tape echo
Here is my video for the Nembrini 501 Chorus Echo
Yes you’re right, will edit my comment
Excellent review Doug, as always!
Just judging from the Youtube. To my ears, this is definitely not comparable to AudioThing Outer Space. Apart from the saturation I kind of miss a vintage gritty nature, a bit of a tape sound, a spark of electricity. Hard to tell there is a spring reverb onboard, first I thought it was just a normal reverb. Not that drippy lofi thing on Outer Space. Overall (again, personal opinion!) it sounds more like a normal delay to me than a vintage unit. Love that Chorus, wish I could stick that on Outer Space.
Other opinions?
@Slush Thanks, yes this definitely sounds different than Outer Space, the chorus makes a huge difference to the sound, you could very easily get your Andy Summers vibe with this.
I'm pretty sure the reverb is spring based, you can here it a bit better when you go full on with the reverb and turn the other effects off.
More must buy toys 😊
Think the tape delay part of this is better than Outer Space in terms of distorting feedback etc.
Not sure if something odd going on with getting Nembrini mono though…might be user error.
Still get the best results from RE-1 though.
Ok, interesting.
Again, judging from Dougs review, I think this delay might benefit by adding a tape sim right after it, like the free Caelum Tape Cassette, for that extra tiny little bit of hiss/wow. (I am just thinking out loud if I can justify to buy it )
Tempted because of the SoS function 🤔
Would like to know more about the SoS.
Wasn´t covered very well in the video. If you search for the hardware version, it seems to be the case that the sound-on-sound repeats a loop exactly once, but no endless looping. There are some posts where people claim they do endless looping, but you also get the impression that is due to a faulty erase head!? Anyone know? It also seems that the 501 has a much shorter SoS loop than the 301 (due to shorter position of the SoS head from the last echo head, whereas the 301 has the SoS right at the end of the tape, just before the erase head).
Emulating a faulty erase head allowing for endless sound-on-sound layering, now that is something which Outer Space and this 501 could add as a feature ...
Looks like it’ll be a great addition alongside outer space. I was really impressed with Voltour, that thing makes Pure Acid rip a hole in the universe. I’ll get this when I recover from my last binge
Dammit, Doug! I was resisting until you just said the magic words!
So much good information with this and outer space with outer spaces intro going out soon.
@ExAsperis99 I played a bit with this a few weeks ago with my guitar and pretty much straight away I was like, oh, this is like those splash chords in Walking On The Moon, no delay but lots of the chorus and reverb, very nice, so you could definitely get anything from the Regatta or Zenyatta period I reckon, very very cool.
I wonder if Andy Summers use the original hardware, it’s seems it may be likely, it does have “that” sound.
If you do like Andy Summers, I recently watched Rick Beato’s brilliant interview with him, it was really informative and entertaining.
I’ll link it here in case you want to check it out if you haven’t already seen it😊
He does start to talk that sound around 52 minutes into the video and he does say it probably a Roland Chorus and the reverb was probably from the desk.
When I went to the app store to buy it, I realized I had already bought it 5 minutes ago . . true story
Fantastic! Thank you for this!
@ExAsperis99 You’re welcome, I’m sure you will find the interview really interesting, I started watching with the intention of watching the first five minutes and catching the rest at different times, ended up watching the whole thing in one sitting, really good stuff.
It would be cool to hear what think about the interview after you’ve watched it, whenever that may be👍😊
My interpretation of what Summers said is that he used a chorus pedal with reverb being added by the engineer from the desk.
There seem to be a lot of articles claiming that he used an Electro-Harmonic stereo flanger with the feedback turned way down for his chorus sound.
@espiegel123 Yes, in the interview he definitely says he thinks it was a Roland Chorus, great interview with a great guitarist me thinks.
