The method of neural network appliance seems to work, though.
Here they used it to analyze the algorithms of a reverb

You lucky so-and-so, rofl! Cheers mate and enjoy the tasty audio degredation. Also, how does it compare to Reelbus and Super VHS?

I will not do any comparisons but just remember we have plenty of apps in this category available already even some free gems like CHOW Tape Model with insane amount of control for those who prefer a bit more than a few knobs'n'sliders...

Well, I still don’t get shitting on a plug-in because it doesn't do something that interests you, but I am excited for it at least. I enjoyed demoing it a lot on desktop and have been waiting to be able to afford cos it’s pricey even on sale for desktop.

As you know, 50% of the comments on these threads are always shitting on the apps in question lol I don’t think I’ve ever seen a release thread on here that isn’t that way. I’m excited for it but some people tend to think if an app doesn’t interest them then it’s bad and not useful.

I agree, although in this case I didn't see anyone really shitting on anything in this thread. Samu had a minor criticism, but it's not entirely unfounded criticism as he's actually beta testing it.

Regardless I'll be purchasing upon release to see how it sounds for myself. If it doesn't work out for me as an everyday tool, no major loss for me. I'll fit it in somewhere. 😂🤣

  • I don't really see a problem with some ppl being a bit negative or sceptical regarding upcoming releases in threads, unless it turns into some kind of harassment or whatever. Scepticism has the important function of making ppl think a bit critically and tempering hype. Always requiring consensus and positivity can have its own unintended negative results, long term.

I agree. Being critical and skeptical is perfectly fine and healthy. Nobody's outright poking fun of the product nor are they harassing anyone who likes it. Everyone seems to be keeping a level head in this thread. I'm just trying to figure out what the "problem" is here. 🤔

What problems have you encountered? Have you let the dev know?

Issue with Speed (IPs) settings muting audio in some instances (can be heard flicking through various presets).

I was more speaking generally - mostly in jest - about people tending to be over critical in a way that’s at times unfounded (as in simply people saying it’s not good with no other comments when they haven’t even tried it).

For some reason everyone is getting their own meaning from my comment though lol

  • Looking forward to this, atm I'm using AudioThing Reels for gritty stuff and Chow Tape as a smoothener. Chow Tape's Ui gets in the way within Drambo sometimes so I welcome a simpler UI like that of TAIP.

  • sounds great on desktop.
how is it on iOS on CPU pls?:)
    any experiences?

  • Those who have it…how does it compare vs ReelBus ?

  • Fear2Stop:
I have em both on desktop.
    This is nothing like reelbus.
Reelbus is VERY configurable, this is not as that.
But for my ears, this sounds more authentic, more pleasing.
If you use more samples and do ambient-ish, go for Taip,
for others go to Reelbus I say...

Did a quick DSP test in AUM with all the tape plugins I have.

Taip takes 20%, Chow Tape 16%, Caelum Tape Cassette 21% on an iPad 9th gen.

  • Thanks kirmesteggno.

This is a very good explanation for Taip FX. I experienced something similar. Not to mention, it’s become a secret tool for many producers.

I use Reelbus on my mastering chain… would Taip be good in that regard or would I be good with what I have?

    Fear2Stop:
    you can do this
download the trial for desktop you have (mac or pc)
try it on a song you like to master
and hear for yourself. the best test :)

tape coloration is, after all, a matter of one's taste...
    ( very subjective )

I think you're good, unless you need it for sound design and extreme settings. Imo it's really good if you slap it on a otherwise clean mix and mixbus, drum bus and then mix into it, basically at the beginning, way before mastering. The presets are kinda extreme too which also shows how the devs envisoned it being used that way.

Very happy to have this on ios. Been using it a lot recently on desktop, it’s both great for adding colour at various stages of sound design and also just generally as an insert effect on busses when mixing.

  • I was planning to get FabFilter Saturn 2 on next sale, it doesn't really make sense to buy this too, right? Not really searching for the perfect tape emulation.

You might try the free Chow Tape Model and BYOD . They are first rate despite being free.

Saturn and TAIP are pretty different. Saturn only does distortion so it's not a full tape emulation with wow and flutter etc...

On the other hand Saturn does multiband processing and has a lot of powerful modulation options, it's basicaly a very versatile distortion module, but not really a tape emulation.

I would agree with @espiegel123 that Chow Tape (which is excellent) is a closer match to TAIP.
