Teenage Engineering and the Rabbit OS R1
This looks like a very promising platform:

I wouldn’t call it a platform, in the sense that you won’t be able to make apps for it. But I do think it looks like a great alternative to iOS/Android and all those apps.
There's no reason not to do the same on iOS and Android.
We only have so many apps because whoever provides a service, usually wants as much control as possible over it, including more access to the users' private data.
By using r1, we're giving all the control to rabbit os.
And services promising higher commissions for them might be picked as the preferable options 😉
Yeah. I can not imaging giving control over my bank account to AI (!!!!) Especially code named "Rabbit" LOL
The last rabbit gadget was a vibrator. I think it was probably better at penetrating the market than this one.
😂🤣 Was her name Jessica?
I will say this new TE device is one rabbit hole I won't be exploring.
Hahaha. It's sold out anyway Interesting that people are so hungry for novelty they are buying this device when there is not a single review of it, nor any practical details revealed.
There will always be a subset of people that TE will always sell out to
Lmao 🤣 next up will blend them both! An AI powered vibrator 🐰
Exactly. Wait for official product reviews before spending 200 quid. My OP-1 Field works exceptionally well for me. But that's only after years of researching and GASsing for the OG OP-1. I didn't just jump in and buy one after seeing Red Means Recording's video.
You can tell Rabbit to play and compose on your OP1 If it's the same company, software & hardware integration should be exceptional. Now this 200 credits looks well spent, ay?
Looks like it's a mix between a web app like Zapier which can interconnect different APIs and a LLM, they just call it LAM.
Pretty cool though, something like this as a Smartwatch would rock. I guess people won't just throw away their phones, and carrying two devices in your pockets is a bit much.
Practically free compared to what you pay for an iphone with Siri…which is a joke and no task rabbit…
Where do you get T.E from? I can't find they have anything to do with this company or do you just mean it's a good match?
It’s a collab - TE did the industrial design on the device.
Yeah, wouldn’t that be as accurate as calling the Playdate the “Teenage Engineering Playdate”, which I think would be highly misleading? That logo lockup above indicates a partnership, and not necessarily a joint venture. (I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve designed such logo lockups, and they almost always mean that the logo on the right means “contributor”.)
So my take is that if it’s not on their website under the banner of “Products”, it’s not a TE product, and simply something to which they contributed. For instance, I’m happy to highlight their large contribution to the Playdate, as well as speculating that some of that product’s very minor industrial design problems can be attributed to them, but I wouldn’t call it theirs.
he clearly says in the keynote designed in collaboration with Teenage Engineering…anything less or more is speculation…nothing about ‘industrial design’…but it sure looks like TE…
you guys think it’s a scam??? I have no affiliation with this one… but I was gonna order 3
Teenage Engineering helped design it, it is a 'Rabbit' product though, and they're their own company with zero connection to Teenage Engineering apart from this collab. They're not owned by Teenage Engineering, and vice versa. Teenage Engineering helped make this, but it is not a Teenage Engineering product, there is not even a shred of doubt about that. It also has little relevance to synths etc, though that could change of course, if music production apps become available for it. But really there is no ambiguity and the thread title should be changed slightly to reflect that TE are collaborators on this product, they are not the manufacturers, as otherwise some people will come away with a misconception about things. Just change the title to 'Rabbit with Teenage Engineering' or something, and it will be accurate.
I think it very much depends on how you're going to use it.
The examples shown in the demonstration rely on giving up some of your critical personal data and I wouldn't be surprised if they give these devices away for free one day.
hmmm…he said using LAM, the rabbit hole web portal redirects you to the 3rd party app login page. Authentication happens on respective apps…
here are their privacy statements:

which examples concern you the most?
Ok thanks for the link!
So apparently they won't even try to find the best services for the purpose but I still have to find and register with them myself. It kind of looks like an intelligent automation platform for all kinds of online services but then I still have to explain it all the steps to get there, right?
Seems like they have a platform similar to Zapier (think Apple Shortcuts for web APIs) where you can connect API A to API B by specifying the type of connection and the handheld remembers it.
We should write a Pythonista/iOS program doing that 😁
I design the UI, you're the backend guy ok?
There are some open source projects/Zapier clones to steal from.
I'm wondering what Apple is planning regarding Siri and Shortcuts.
Looks to me like some kind of "field" rabbit...
I was also considering this (if it's a scam). They have a product, a promotional movie but not a single illustration of it's use. 5 batches already sold out. How much is one batch? Even if it's only 1000 units then it's 200K USD per batch.
The introduction video has 5M views, so I guess they have sold quite a lot already

Ok, for free I’ll take half dozen (I still have no idea what this thing is or does or why I’d bother carrying it in my pocket)
The lastest news: The next batch of $200 Rabbit R1’s includes a one year free of the Proximity AI service that costs $19 / month otherwise… Start-up partnering with start-up for customer capture.
R1 is aiming to put a voice interface over an AI (search&dialog) service. Ideally, you get a true hands free device for driving. Close to those Star Trek communicators with a back end computer intelligence.
Potentially wearable computing that could partner with AR glasses to add vision to the mix and some gesture driven interfaces.
What? Any previous batches don't? The buyers for sure would feel appreciated, since that's only a software feature and doesn't require a new hardware
