This looks like something that could be good for me. I say could because I've watched everything I can find and I am still a long way off being sure what it does.

    I feel exactly the same

So, is there any way to record your session within the app and then export an audio file? Or, is screen recording all you can do with this for output?

I only have Astral and there's no recording there as it's midi controller alas it does not make sound on it's own. On the website you can see him record samples into RSVP but I'm not sure you can record it's final output.
You simply set up something (a few synths) in AUM and record there, from the hip (no sync) but that's okay for later use in ambient or glitchy stuff.

Hmmm… yeah, I didn’t see any recording of the session for output in the demos either. If it was more of a midi controller like Astral, I wouldn’t mind the scenario of sending to synths in AUM. However, since this is essentially an experimental sample player, I’d need to at least have internal recording for export of the session… especially since it appears to be somewhat performative.

I’d probably buy this, but for $13 - I wouldn’t want to only have screen recording for output export.

Well, there's a contact form on the site and he replied to me within hours. So, ask!😃

  • Here is a great YouTube tutorial on setting up an extract audio from a screen recording shortcut. Works great for applications like this:

Yeah, I might just do that. I'd buy it right now if it had easy in-app record session and export.

And to @mikewb regarding extracting audio. Yeah, I know it's easy. The excellent WaveBox audio editor will also load a vid and export audio. It's just that for $13 I don't think I should have to jump through any hoops to get the audio extracted. That's just me though. It looks like a cool and fun app that I will definitely keep my eye on regardless.

  • I wonder what id does to vocal samples?

I sent an inquiry via contact on his site a couple days ago. Mostly complimenting him on his creative apps... and also asking if in-app recording might be coming or if he'd consider it.

    No reply.

Update: Looks like the dev will add recording and export of session audio. Here's his reply via email and YouTube:

    Hi Skip,

thank you for you message and feedback.

I am planning to add there:

    • recording of the output (so all the sounds that app makes)
    • recording of only Jam part (only the sounds that result from touch interaction, those files can be than automatically added to one of the playback slots)

I will most likely keep it simple - only record to WAV and name will be automatically generated based on the folder that user selects as recording folder.

    Kind regards,
    Miso

(from YouTube) Hi, yes, I will be adding ability to record the main output and output from Jam part. I will keep it simple though - probably only HQ WAVs, auto-naming, etc

I might buy it. Though, I told myself I wouldn’t buy any more apps based on features that may or may not be added… no matter what the dev says they intend to add.

Been let down too many times from devs saying they’d add something, then they move on to something else or abandon the app altogether. Or, they add the feature in a new 2.0 version that you have to buy again to get the feature.

By the time you realize this, it’s usually too late to get a refund

Well, he just raised the price again from $13 to $18 without even adding the recording feature. I think I’m out at this price… even if he does add a recording feature.

It doesn't look like this dev ever has sales... but I'll keep an eye on it for one anyway.

Also, seems like you could get somewhat close to this effects in this app with Noises, which I already recent purchased on sale.

  • I was still on the fence. Now it’s gone up by 50% I have just landed firmly on the “definitely not buying this” side of said fence…

  • Is there a way to clear the session without shutting it down?

  • Saw the video. Very interesting instrument. At this price point tho I would expect AUv3. Maybe I will buy it if the app goes on sale.

I’m loving this app so far!!! More to it than I thought. I haven’t figured out everything yet, but this is really fun!!! 🤩

Being able to record and export your session audio is easy and works well.

  • It's really cool but misses a few "basic" features like e.g preset saving. Starting from scratch every time is such a waste of time.
I wonder why there's not even IAA on this one, adding a few effects would have been real great but, recording works too.

  • Bought this, and like it, but I think Lottery is the pick of the litter- beautiful accidents!

I’ve got this one and astral. Love them both! Will check out lottery

  • Thanks for the recomendation. I’ve been getting into Latch and Temp recently, which are really great too! (And agree - Astral is lovely!)

So the dev did add the ability to record and export?

  • Oh and another question, what’s the maximum sample length for each slot? Wondering if I could have 4 banks of 8 samples, each 10 or 12 seconds long…..that way ( since the playback order is randomised) I could build up a longform generative piece using sustained notes, all in the same key

Yes - you can record the output directly in the app - and it works perfect.

There are nothing about this in the manual (here: https://www.seqsual.com/rsvp) but I have used both short and fairly long (20+ seconds) in the app with no issues. There is also the option to record sounds directly inside the app to a folder of your choice, which works very smoothly too.

    Great, thanks @catbox !
Think I’m gonna grab this app - curiosity getting the better of me 😀

One other thing, there’s no connectivity with AudioShare correct? Is it easy to import files using iPad file system ( which I tend to find incredibly unintuitive)?
