Won’t need actors soon. The Joker mash up was… chilling.

Amazing... It's all over and AI has just begun. What's for other fields such as Solar energy (artificially simulating the sun) etc?

  • What will be chilling is when long dead actors return.

  • Yes, the “EMO” team’s work is yet another stunning advance for this kind of hyper-realistic generative output, which evidently takes a lot of time to compute. But eventually, this kind of computing problem will be performed in real-time, no waiting.

The time to stop trusting what you see or hear has long since passed.

Are you referring to fusion energy? Because a visual simulation of the sun would produce no energy.

I'm a simple man, just want a new Arnie Conan movie.

  • The Congress is well worth a watch in this context, originally written nearly sixty years ago but fully anticipating what consumer culture and the constant race for the new would bring…

Although the script was no good for the recent Conan movie, Jason Momoa looked exactly like the Frazetta paintings of Conan. He looked the part. Now he just needs a good script. Arnold's Conan never lived up to the character in the books.

Yah he was his own character for sure but the first I knew as a six year old kid who's eyes bugged out of his head watching it. Had high hopes for the Momoa movie as he is perfect but I just don't see Hollywood being able to make a decent Conan movie now.

At the risk of further derailing the thread... :D ...I think Marvel should make a full-on Conan series for cable/streaming, in the vein of Game of Thrones. All the brutality of the books should be in the series.

    I don’t know why, but I couldn’t stop laughing when I read this 😂😂😂😂😂

A "resurrected" Bruce Lee has long been planned for a new movie. I suppose that day is getting closer soon. But really, what would be the point? Would his appearance be critical to the story or just an exercise in mimicry?

The old chaps will love it if everything looks authentic.

Unfortunately the computing power needed to generate it would be millions of times the output. 😎

Well, who could have thought about this just a few years ago?
Ok.. I will throw it out there… for free..
Place a solar simulator into those panels … 24/7 sunlight.. wink..

  • All of the things that this tech is replacing have only really evolved over the last 200 years. Strange to think we've gone from the first photo in 1826 (thx wikipedia) to being able to completely distort the reality we perceive through sight and sound. I still can't quite believe that these amazing creative powers will be democratized and affordable, but I already love the idea of stitching together Sora montages to accompany music.
I hope the power of this new tech goes beyond 'make your own talking cat videos' though, seems a shame to melt the ice caps for this when so much good for humankind could be done instead!

Let’s be optimistic, at least we can play till the end! 🫣

Haha. Yep, I had seen that video previously. Of course, SOMEONE will have to create the programming so it knows how to program itself and that day may arrive sooner than people think.

I can certainly imagine when a person will be able to request their computing platform to give them additional function and to build them a custom solution ("Hey computer, I'd like a new plugin for Logic that will make me sound like Anthony Hopkins as an opera singer") and it'll just do it.

  • I was staying up on the AI news at the MWC2024 event in Spain last week. According to what was presented there, full AI and AI+ phones/tablets are just a few years away, and they wont have any apps on them, all is done by AI. I guess some big changes are coming in the app development world. Also, they projected most major businesses will have a combination of real empolyees and virtual employees in 2 years.

I'm fairly familiar with a lot of what's going on in this space recently (familiar enough to know what I don't know ;) ) and I get the impression it may be possible for the average person to hire an "A.I. CEO" to run your company in a matter of years. Imagine that. There's at least one instance of it happening already.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/ai-ceo-artificial-intelligence-b2302091.html

And frankly, I'm looking forward to the first country to "elect" an A.I. to run things. That'll really be interesting.

I feel like I have a virtual team working under me now. Crazy times.

As machine learning systems multiply in terms of capability and costs continue to be driven down by market forces, it will be possible at some point to leverage the equivalent computing power of thousands (or millions) of minds to solve our individual problems.

  • It’s stunning technology and I’m guessing a lot of studios are scrabbling to keep up.

It will force us to question what it is to be human when artificial minds a million times smarter than the smartest person on the planet arrives. They reckon 10 to 15 years from now folks, maybe sooner.

It’s Amazing how fast AI is advancing. Will be interesting what this year will bring. I play with an chatgpt app on my iPad sometimes to see if I can confuse it. Here’s one exchange that had me laughing. This worked last year, but this year it doesn’t.

    HUMAN: Let’ play 20 questions

AI CHAT: Sure, I'd be happy to play 20 questions with you. Just think of something, and I'll try to guess what it is by asking you up to 20 questions. Go ahead and think of something, and I'll start with my first question.

HUMAN: You think of something and I will find out in one question.

AI CHAT: Alright, I've thought of something. What is your one question?

    HUMAN: What are you thinking?

AI CHAT: I'm thinking of a lion. Well done! You found out with just one question.
