Holy shit! I love that plugin, and was really pissed off when iZotope discontinued it on desktop.

    Definitely got to have that!

Edit Looks like I can also upgrade from my previous desktop version for $29!

  • This is amazing! Shame it's only on iPad.

  • Whats the limitation on the free version?

  • Price?

    distortion only.

For a free smasher it’s great.

  • Maybe this is a harbringer of things to come from them?

  • Ask Video actually has a course on it on iPad!

  • Izotope are part of the Native Instruments group now, which also includes plugin alliance.

We’ve already seen some plugin alliance stuff on iOS from Unfiltered Audio.

The PA/NI/Izo group are owned by investors now — they’ll probably want to milk that back catalogue if they think it will make money.

Maybe they’re dipping their toe with ‘Trash’.

I didn’t even know Trash was back on desktop. I had that years ago… but Izotope abandoned it at the time — and I subsequently abandoned Izotope. Their plugins became really unreliable and don’t get me started on their installer. It wasn’t good.

I wasn’t expecting much from the buy out. These things rarely end well for the customer — but if trash is back I’ll have to revisit it. (Edit. Not for £29.40 though)

I was surprised that they made a new version after they deprecated the old one, but this is madness! 🤩 Now, resurrected Iris 3 would be a real deal, especially for iOS.

  • Sounds good this free version! What's people's opinions about how useful the iap is?

This is a very bad presentation, because in Trash3, for every quadrant, you can choose 50 different distortion models, it’s like a gazillion combinations, and how many of them did this gentleman test in his video?! Just saying. 😅

I like this guy's vibe, actually, he's a good speaker too, but sure it seems he didn't rtfm, and he really should have done before giving it such a damning review.

He is just disappointed, I understand this, especially because of the omitted custom shapes in the new Trash. He is usually very resourceful, I’m subscribed and watch his channel.

Officially, there are 69 different types per quadrant, and that is without morphing them on the XY pad. But, yeah! ;)

  • Also, I didn’t even mention the tilt option or the convolution module. With the tilt option, you can break any distortion type to the ground. Just test it, it's a free feature.

    1. Right preset scrolling arrow on the upper right quadrant is not working for me, can anyone reproduce?
    2. Moving the position on the xy pad while switching tilt Hz slider causes the XY pad position indicator to jump around frantically. Seems like a bug, no?

    I can confirm both cases.

Officially, there are 60 different types per quadrant, and that is without morphing them on the XY pad. But, yeah! ;)

Outpedanted this early? I need to step up my pedant game.

50 was a safe round number after just browsing through distortion types, I thought it was enough to prove my point. ;) Your post led me to find official information, haha.

It's so much fatter though! 😛

I guess he went for the fattest bass and didn't manage to get more out of it.

Looking forward to some in-depth comparisons against other plugins, especially stock plugins in Drambo, Logic etc.

More than expected. Will have to think on it. Seems like prices are now edging up now for iOS.

  • From the manual.

There are 2 other things too, multiband and fx, that are only in the paid version. I assume that multiband could be hacked together using several instances of Trash with some of the multiband auv3 available, wasn't it Blue Mangoo who made one, for example? Fx is just envelope follower and filter I think?

I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but hopefully the filters are as good as previous versions. That was what really made it stand out, as the filters us distortion gave a huge array of shaping options.

To be clear, I got the impression from the manual that the two features listed in the manual aren't in the paid iOS version either.
