  • 12.9 Pro these days, but historically the 11” Pro. I like the bigger size for photo editing, but still miss the portability of the 11” almost daily and may switch back with my next iPad.

iPad mini 6th generation. When I got it, I thought it was a mistake. I was wrong. It's been a pleasure to use.

  • Mini! No one takes me further than you!

I just love it. It's just this chunky little fellow the size of a notebook that can do almost anything

  • I have a iPad 9th and i loved it, and now this year i pick an iPad Mini 5th (both last gen with headphone out). I thought that the Mini would be super small but everyday i like it more than the 9th, feeling the 10.5 screen super big to use it with hands.

Now i think i should use the 9th with keyboard and mouse in a desktop enviroment or something like that, haha

  • It’s nice to share and hear all our feelings with the size and models. I really enjoy my 11, but when I want more space, I plug it is to an external display.

  • Mini is my main 🎛🌈🚀

  • I just upgraded (today!) from a IPad 10 gen to a 12.9 Pro. It’s definitely heavier and clunkier, but my old eyes really enjoy the larger screen for some of the more crowded apps.

  • iPad 9th gen here, but I also use an iPod touch on gigs sometimes.

  • Mini 5 here. It still gets the job done 👍

  • iPhone 14 Pro Max with 1TB storage. 😉 For the most part. I master my music on a Mini 6 in Logic.

  • I’m using an 11”, but I’ve decided I’m going to return to the bigger size once the next wave arrive.

Same, although I have used the 12.9 since the very first one was available. But these days I use my MacBook a lot more, so a smaller, more portable iPad Pro makes sense. Still on the 2018 version, so I’m waiting for the new models to see what’s available.

Are you using Ableton on your MacBook? Are you using your iPad together with it or have you switched into laptop mode? :) ?

  • 11.

The big one is nice for some things but 11 is the sweet spot for weight and portability.

  • 11

It's my first iPad, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it's nice.

But it's showing its age already (A12Z) whenever I'm using a couple dozen plugins.

Ableton+Push 3 on Macbook, Koala and AUM on the iPad, mostly. I use my iPad for a ton of other stuff, (including watching TV, so I will have to figure that part out).

I have still my old Push 1. How do you enjoy Push 3? Do you have the standalone or?

  • Just standard iPad. I had an air 2 for years and found the limited tracks, limited plugins within daws really helped me learn, developing skills and hone in on what was needed until apps just wouldn’t run.
    I use a standard iPad now. 9th I think.
Never had issues until I tried to move over to logic recently and with the moog plugins it tries to freeze constantly. Which wouldn’t be an issue but tracks don’t play, things don’t work etc.
everything else runs great so not upgrading for a while yet.

  • iPad 9th gen (10.2") here. Smaller wouldn't work in Drambo without a Pencil I think. Also nice to have the headphone jack and still a good performance and battery life.

Why are you using the iPhone over the Mini 6 for production? I've noticed that you're often chiming in when it comes to plugins that aren't available for the phone. I mean the mini 6 is also quite portable.

  • 12.9, no regrets, love the size.

  • I moved from an iPad 6th gen to a Pro 11, and they are virtually the same physical size. Which is just what I needed as I think the 12.9 would have been too big for easy portability and the early ones were a bit delicate, if my memory is working. I decided the money was better spent on storage and RAM rather than the bigger screen for those reasons, and I’m very happy with it. Apart from the ongoing MIDI out mess on iPadOS 17.

I just upgraded to standalone and I love it. I just got a USB ADAT adapter so I can use it, standalone, with the iPad. There’s a thread about that, so we can keep on-topic here.

Yes, it shows kinda that size doesn’t really matter for creativity.

My iPhone has more storage space than my Mini 6. Pure Synth Platinum alone takes up nearly 100GB space.

  • 12.9 does well for me. Being this is my first iPad, I should have searched around for a better deal. Originally, size is what caught my eye since I mainly purchased for art & graphic design.

Wow, that app wouldn't even fit on my current iPad lol. So if they come with a new Mini with more storage space you'd switch for sure then.
