  • No AB. It doesn't even come with presets. Sounds cool, and is pretty unique to iOS, but seems a bit half baked.

  • buy it now....I have all from IceGear and Xenon is my first sequencer from about 5 years ago :-)

It has about 50 presets .....

  • Sorry, didn't realize that at first.
    Still, no AB???

  • Anyone care to suggest what it's USP might be in what is an increasingly crowded market?

  • I think to make a free bank for this guy :)

Well the preset tweaking video sold me. I likey! And proper IAA over some current wonky 3rd party solution = :)

Implement AB down the road once the dust settles..

    Do it!!

DOWN WITH wonky 3rd party solutions!

    Nurse! Get me my chequebook!

  • Bought ! @ChrisG, Yep the sound tweaking video sold it to me ! Lovely sounds for techno percussion loops, almost like Impaktor, with an Arp built in. Great value for £2.99

  • Nice! I love these kinds of tones. Preset tweaking vid is convincing.

  • Just when I think I've heard of every synth characteristic, here comes "blown pipe."

I wonder if this is the kind of sound they're referring to...

May be a lame rant topic - but developer introduction videos for new synths that simply play a full song in the background while zooming in and out on poorly focused screen shots drive me NUTS. It's not a Mercedes commercial, it's a computer program, and your 1 or 2-minute video may be the only time you get my attention to explain how the app works and give me a variety of sounds that might hook me into a purchase. Doug and Colin should just be retained to do all of these videos (with pre-release copies) - the whole value of those is that he experiences the app the same way a new user would. Sort of like an "unboxing" video for software.

ANYWAY...I really like the interface. It's tough to believe it's from the same people who make Cassini, which has some pretty rough visuals, but I still go back to from time to time when I'm overwhelmed by the complexity of more modern synths, and just want a simple "ping" or vintage synth noise.

It needs AudioBus, so I might wait for both that and the obligatory Doug video to actually see how it sounds, but it looks like it could be a unique sound. I understand the confusion of some developers who point out that IAA is on every device (while AudioBus is only on every device of the people who actually care about this stuff :)) - but at the same time, AudioBus just works better and gives you more adaptability for workflow. Also allows you to crank up latency for slower devices, so at least you can USE the apps without clicks and stutters. Since this developer's other products are all on AudioBus, I bet it comes very shortly.

The 1.7 MB storage space required certainly doesn't hurt!

  • please noooo.I was just a second away from purchasing the Pro Version of Alchemy and now THIS :) Not to mention that i already spent enough this week with iProphet,Oscilab,Level.24...

    Looks good...unfortunately :)

  • I wonder if it midi syncs to other apps. I presume not. Unique sounding machine. Why don't all synths have an arp?

  • By the way:IAA instrument or Generator only?

  • edited October 2014

@supadom, Addictive Synth from Virsyn is one of my favs, using the randomiser function on the arp will usually come up with some really interesting patterns
@Supadom, from the specs on the website , supports CoreMIDI/Virtual Midi Input,External Midi Sync

    @Crabman
I forget which is which (Instrument v. Generator) but this is the kind of IAA I can midi sequence from BM2, and play via BM2s keys...
Though I had to uninstall and reinstall (and reboot the device, ios 8) to get the 2apps to start chatting.
Great to have physical modeling synthesis on iOS, full tones, lots of tweak-ability, for $5...

  • Damn you all! Got it and....sounds good. It definitely is very narrow in scope but what it does it does well.

  • I've barely even used Cassini and iProphet, but it looks like I'm on my way to buying this one too.

  • Cassini didn't impress me personally. To be honest I should have bought Nave instead but got to admit that the one sound video tease got me curious about the rest of the sounds. Bloody advertising techniques.

    This. Exactly.

I like it and it will find its niche in my crowded little toolbox. BUT struggling to hook it up in Cubasis and, as said above, IAA is all well and good until you just want to jump in and have something playing nice with others for you and then your reminded that NO AB is a bad choice.

Hopefully this will be one of those 'be implemented in the first month' deals, but who knows...

Sometimes it's the dominion even more than the performance (she said).

  • My other Icegear favorite isn't Cassini or Xenon but Argon- very full toned virtual analog, was using it on iPad til I upgraded to 8 and broke stuff. Hope they make Argon IAA

  • No brainer. Nice.

I agree with this. Argon is a very nice sounding synth, always wanted it to be Universal.

  • Looks like it has Cassini's Delay2. Don't think I can resist.

  • I like this synth a lot. But I've always been a sucker for these kind of sounds. And having that engine with the in app arp is instant fun.

Odd thing whilst playing with the controls, the app lost all sound. Quitting and restarting the app did don't help and then I found that the entire iPad had lost sound. All system sound was lost. Had to reboot to get sound back. Anyone had a similar experience?

Yea the delay is great. The filter section can be modulated for some sweeping filtered (cross)delays, there's also an overdrive/dist in there that can really add some squelchy high res distorted delays. Pitch shift effect on the delays too, under the "Moduration" section (I'm guessing that should say Modulation?). Very comprehensive delay unit.

The chorus section got all things covered from the looks of it.

The reverb is a bit cheap sounding, and quite basic, in contrast to the two other effect modules. But it can help fill out a sound here and there I guess. :)
