Hmm, I actually don't recall. 🤔 But, maybe they should try it again, especially since Logic for iPad seemed to make subscription pricing less stigmatised.
I mean, most online services should be subscription, wouldn't you think mate?
Yah if I recall the chronology it started as a sub on iOS, then there was a PC kickstarter which had lifetime access for a single payment then went universally free with a crypto something something that I never really looked into as I just don't crypto.
Now I see. Yeah I don't do crypto either. Never did and never will.
I guess the idea was you could use it for free but there would have been like a loop store (or something?) where people could license clips they record to others using crypto or something and a percentage of that would have fueled the whole service? I have no idea but I am hoping that an offline version will still work as it is a hellah awesome looper experience and I never really used the community stuff often. There is a tool that someone made for it that lets you export stems well (something that is a clunky in Endlesss) and even do an eight track recorded clip launch jam of sorts that is very handy. But yah, feelin sad just exporting all my jams now. At least using this tool I will be able to still export to them to daw for my Endlesss opus.
Yeah that sucks. Gonna download Endlesss and have a go with what's available in it. None of the community stuff.
Oh the social jam with a friend/peep is hellah fun though. Amazing really. Should try that.
Okay. Does sound fun.
It really sucks--I don't think I'll ever be able to create things in the same way without that Endlesss workflow. I've tried to do it in Loopy Pro but not managed the same magic yet--I'll have no choice but to try harder now.
Endlesss was more than just another app to me and many others. There are many real tears being shed over its demise. I've never been sad like this over the loss of any other app nor will I ever be again, probably. Sure it was a great retrospective looper with an amazing flow and the most fun and natural way to mutate things with FX that I've ever encountered. Even better, it saved every iteration so you could experiment with no fear of losing anything. It had its awkward points, but it felt magical once you figured out how to control it. But the best thing of all was meeting and playing music collaboratively with other people from around the world. Almost every musical friend I have I met through that app and with it shutting down, I'm literally losing the foundation of nearly my entire social existence. We in that community will be trying to find new ways to keep playing music together, but it's hard right now and we're all racing to download and back up literally years of amazing musical creations.
If anyone here is an avid Endlesss user but not part of the Discord community but you need to know how to preserve your data before the end of the month, let me know and I will help you as best I can. We have some brilliant tools to do it more efficiently than through the app itself. Peace and love! ❤️💙💜
It is super sad. Was really glad to get Lore yesterday and grab everything. Now I can get my few somewhat mix worthy jams to the mixing stage a lot easier. Had I had Lore all along I would likely be even more devastated by the news. Getting stems out and ordered nicely was a bit of a pia. While Endlesss is lovely in many ways it felt like I was paying for the ease of use on the export/arranging end of the process which was quite hindered. But yah, once I could host the Maschine vst inside of Endlesss, omg, that just raised my expectations for what music making should be for me.
Now I am approaching using Samplitude in an Endlesss fashion and since recent Samplitude updates where you can edit audio while playing back and route audio for recording more effectively I just try to use it in an Endlesss way and it is actually working. I am sure the more I get used to it, organize my project / workflow a bit better and build my lizard brain muscle memory it will end up being even better over all. Having a timeline to do it on is great too. But yah, The instant iOS / Desktop parity of Endlesss will always be missed though. SIGH
I stayed away because I’m not a live performance producer but I’m always gutted when a creative initiative fails and leaves a community behind. It’s such a shame there wasn’t a lower cost model like using distributed computing instead of cloud server based (if that’s what it was)
Hey @AudioGus I'm glad you were able to get LORE and save some of your art with it! It is a real boon...made in response to some of the frustration with doing certain things in the app that you noted. The silver lining may be that we'll all finally sit down and turn a lot of what we've saved into tracks hopefully.
For what it's worth, I created several releases using Endlesss and LORE:

https://oddstar.bandcamp.com/album/this-twilight-garden-live-looping-sessions-volume-1
https://stellarflame.bandcamp.com/track/eternity-lies-within
I mention it because it's extremely evident to me when listening how Endlesss allowed me to create parts that flowed naturally into each other. Each one almost felt like a concept album which I loved. That's what I will struggle to recreate most, I think. I'll have to give Samplitude a look as I'm not familiar with it. Thanks for the recommendation!
Heartbreaking news, Endlesss is a real gem. Empowered music vets and absolute beginners equally.
Yeah, this is beautiful, very lovely! Thanks for sharing!
With Samplitude it is more or a less a conventional timeline DAW but has been around for decades and has been very gradually honed into a great tool for me. For making it function Endlesssy a big part of it is using it to host the Maschine vst and ignoring about 95% of what Samplitude can do, at least for the creative Endlesssy part. If I had time and YT ambitions I would do a video for Endlesss refugees, but eh most of the comments would probably be idiots bitching 'This is nothing like Endlesss! You suck!' Etc
Isn’t Samplitude’s future in danger as well?
My most used app for last four years used almost daily. There is nothing else like it on iOS or desktop for live collaboration, immediacy and musical flow states
Oh man, I’m just gutted. Like @AudioGus and @oddSTAR and @RedSkyLullaby, this app was a major part of my life. There was a whole culture around it and people who bonded over making music rather than fixating on producing some mythical perfect piece. I will forever equate the pandemic with walking around jamming with people all over the world; it was a lifeline and brought joy to a dark time. Such a shame there isn’t a business model to support such a visionary dude and his amazing app.
This app was liberating for me. I could. Collaborate with real pros and still feel like I mattered. As I said before, I will miss it.
Hmmm, I haven't heard anything specific about Samplitude ending but it has been under a few different company names over the many years, so it seems resilient that way. If it does go down and isn't picked up again I need to unplug my music PC from the internet next year anyway when Microsoft stops Windows 10 support, so I could more or less cast it in amber. For some reason my CPU (which is still plenty powerful ) is not supported on 11 because it lacks some security feature that was added to CPUs shortly after it came out. But yah maybe by then I will have the money to justify Ableton Live / Push. Platform is not really sacred to me.
For me Endlesss was more of a personal workflow lesson/revelation (first time I really clicked with a looper) rather than a major part of my process. The other day I downloaded my jams and was actually surprised by how few there were considering how much I enjoyed making them and revered the strengths of Endlesss. I was always kind of hoping some sort of integrated timeline riff arranger would happen but it seems the focus was on the core social part and to try to monetize it somehow. If Lore could export a linear selection of riffs as logically separated tracks that would have been awesome. But it can just record the eight outputs with all the riff changes jammed into them, still requiring lots of slicing and cleanup yet to mix properly; or just exporting the loops from a riff still requiring lots of track shuffling in a daw. So yah, I kind of held off from getting too close to it and just got into Maschine more.
I thought Magix was bankrupt and filed for insolvency in March? Maybe they pulled off some late investment.
Hmmm, interesting, yah looks like it. I have been using it for about 30 years and it always seemed like the team/project was more valuable and put together than any of the companies they were under. Every couple years there are enough new useful features for me to upgrade. Heh, to me it is like a band under different labels at this point.
Edit: Huh, what do you know, it has been Magix for over 20 years now, lol, time flies when you are getting old as fuck.
Well looks like some smarty pants in Discordland are figuring out a way so that at least on desktop you can still make Endlesss solo jams after the servers shut down. Noice!

Been all over that discord and still missed this, thanks!
Just found this on Facebook and sharing it with both sadness and hope:

At least the good news is that the target of 40k gbp has already been reached and exceeded in a matter of 3 hours.
Still good to keep contributing though, as excess will go to Endlesss employees who were working with no salary for several months before Endlesss ceased operating.
oh my goodness, so troubling to hear this news. This guy is an absolute legend and a nice guy to boot! Thanks for the heads up on the gofundme.
May God watch over Tim and his Family during this time 🙏🏼💗
