    thanks everybody :)

i guess i will split my workflow in 2.

1.-AUM to Neon Audio for stems

I'm curious what Neon adds to the process when you can record directly in AUM?

I found the easiest app to record and export via drag/drop to SampleCrate/GoogleDrive or even Koala Pads directly.

2.- then Multitrack DAW for arrange stems and maybe recording something else (i just saw that i can load AUv3 there).

I don't want to leave AUM but the last option would be 100% inside Multitrack DAW.

There's a way to connect AUM tracks to Multitrack DAW? (not Audiobus, plz)

Yes, you can do this, though personally I see it as more hassle than simply importing tracks after recording directly in AUM.

    • Start AUM.
    • Add a track in MTD.
    • Press the FX button on the track and select Audio.
    • Tap the Microphone icon, then scroll way down to find AUM under Inter-App Audio. In the sub menu you'll see AUM (Port) 1-8 as available track inputs.
    • Tap the Arm button for the track, which will cause an AUM icon to appear.
    • Tap the AUM icon to switch over to it.
    • Tap the output for the AUM track you want to direct to MTD, then IAA / Audiobus Output and the MTD output you should see there.
    • Repeat for other outputs.
    • You can save the AUM session for what is in there, but it will not save anything having to do with MTD and vice-versa.

You'll have to experiment with how best to save and restore work in progress since neither of the apps saves state for the other. That is, if you don't just shrug and decide it's not worth the hassle. 😉

THANKS A LOT. I totally forgot about it

Damn! I totally forgot about that one. Good call. 👍🏼
I dunno how well it works, but it sure is ticks a lot of boxes of the OP.

I reckon the OP has already got the app he needs - 4Pockets MultiTrack. He just needs to do a bit of homework and watch Paul's videos to see how it works.

There's video and about 4 other short ones explaining the upgrades and new features:

  • Often thought of getting one of those old Zoom digital multitrack for the same reason. Just something really simple.

I’m dumb. I’ve just remembered that I have an Alesis Fusion that has an in built 8 track digital recorder that I’ve never used. I’ll try it.

  • @wim said:

That was my first thought too. It has all the plugin distractions, but they're easy to ignore.
Then I read about the OP using Neon and that seemed like it might be simpler (though I haven't tried that).

Same. It's what I've used for over a decade.

  • I use AUM exclusively to create a portastudio emulation. I built a template setup with similar eq and saturation settings along with other plugs to simulate tape drift etc.

My setup is normally used with the gauss looper so I can create ambient recordings that I can pitch down and have them drift out of synch or you could just use loopy pro or the built in audio recorder in AUM.

Here’s and example of my setup which I’ve shared before on the forum.

    Beautiful sounds, nice workflow 👍

  • Yeah AUM and Gauss is probably my favourite workflow for this too as it does give you that similar restrictive workflow to multitrack tape :)

For ambient looks AMAZING <3 love the workflow :)
I will try Gauss, too. at the moment Multitrack DAW is looking great and easy to use.

I can load Koala directly as a AUv3 so i can record to Koala project, save the project and load in Multitrack DAW.

    Very nice indeed

Inspired by @Thelast27 / These Fire Mountains

I knocked up a version of the template if anyone’s interested.

OMG, i will try this NOW. Looks amazing.

  • Am I missing the point or you can use Cubasis, Auria or others on iOS like a portastudio. You just concentrated on the audio recording part.

I recently bought my first synth and this is how is use Cubasis. I stack tracks I build a song as I go. Not worrying about effect or anything until I am satisfied with my written song.

    Beautifully inspiring stuff @Thelast27

Amazing @Jökulgil ! so very kind of you to create this setup and share it.
