That’s kind of a weird thing to say.
It’s almost like saying “oh the mona lisa I’m totally surprised you americans know about it”.
There’s a freaking emoji based on the painting, of course they know about it, uncultured as they are (sorry Johnny boy just kidding😂)

    Ha!
Comparing Mona-Lisa with Skriet, Da Vinci with Munch, that's not really serious...

Munch well known in art communities, but, Da Vinci is a global legend - important to know the difference...

I just quickly googled lists of famous paintings and The Scream is in all of them. I’m pretty sure that Munch’s work is known outside of art cliques.

    Quit taking yourselves so seriously.
Of course Americans know about The Scream. That painting was inspired by the great American cinematic master piece, Scream.

No, I wasn’t trying to be a know it all, only found odd someone pointing munch’s scream as a really obscure painting, like it isn’t one of the most recognizable paintings in global culture. I think jwm thought I was taking a jab at him, but far from it, sorry if I didn’t express myself better

In many ways I feel blessed to be a "city boy". More variety of people to meet than out in the countryside. More variety of points of view to consider as well.

Makes a big difference in the US, as there are definitely some very isolated people in rural America. Some years ago my boss had to visit a distribution center somewhere outside of Knoxville, TN, and his accent drew the attention of a group of women who worked there. One of them asked where he was from and he said, “The UK”. She responded that he spoke really good English for someone who isn’t from America…

Oh geez. 🙄 😂 What an embarrassment to the US. And "Muricans" wonder why they get a bad rep overseas.

There’s nothing wrong, with ignorance in it’s innocent form, regardless of the circles we move, we all share a common set of values, loves, needs and aspirations.

    ❤️

And to add, I’m dropping my sarcasm just to say that I’ve learned a lot about different cultures and regions from this lovely place.
It may not be representative as a whole, but I feel it’s a good supplement of my actual real life experiences. I gladly take it all, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
