Is anyone else in their 60s (or more)
I’m just curious. I’m living my second childhood making “music” on my iPad. I used to jump around on stage, but now I mostly sit in my comfy chair.

Wait, you're in your 60s (or older) already? You always came off as Gen X in his 40s, or even early 50s.
Ask me again next month…
I’m almost 70. Not much of a musician but I enjoy fiddling with musical things and computers so iPad music has been great fun for me the last couple years.
I spent my youth & mid-life working on a rich, lustrous studio tan. From magnetic recording to Pro Tools, racks of hardware & many hundreds of hours tweaking midi data & arrangements. A true studio hermit. Very rarely did I play out in public.
These days it’s as basic as possible; iPad & coffee. But I’m playing ‘live’ more than I ever have in the past, publicly or with friends several times a week. I’ll be 64 in September.
Oh jeez @Paulieworld did you have to ask? 😂 It’s a YES from me !
Sad but true. I’m old school. Actually, I just call it “school” these days. My honey bunny says I look marvelous “for my age”, although I walk with a slight limp these days. I can’t complain. I was never famous, but I could rock with the best of the Chicago weekend warriors. Good friends, good times, good music. Have you ever been to The Brat Stop in Kenosha?
If I remember! Memory is the first to go. Fortunately, other bits are still working just fine… I think.
Really? Maybe I should check my calendar just in case then…
I still love to fiddle around. I remember the line from Monty Python, "I’m not dead yet!"
In college, I worked as a house painter. I got a great tan… on my back. I’ll be 69 in September. Happy birthday, old timer!
Yep, currently 63. I was lucky enough to be able to retire early in 2019 when I was made redundant due to the University campus I worked at closing. iPad music was the plan, then I discovered MiRack… so now hybrid iPad/hardware music is the plan…
We gotta stick together, Bill. Somebody needs to teach these young punks some traditional values. I was watching a rerun of Lawrence Welk last night. I can see why mom and dad liked it so much. It was sweet and lovely. No sex, violence, or politics. Just nice music, singing, and dancing. Myron Floren was the best!
62 here. Not jumping around any more either. I don't want to break a hip.
Made redundant… that sounds terrible. I’m glad you found iPad music, like me. I’m working on a heavy metal track right now. It feels ridiculous at my age, but it’s fun. Unfortunately, I probably won’t be able to retire for a while. Things have gotten expensive in the last few years. Oh well.
Not yet. But if you wanna meet up someday, we could meet there bud if that's alright.
I have a bad hip, too. Started about three years ago. I miss gigging, but as they say… the spirit is willing, but the flesh… you know.
Oh OK Paul, I guess you’re right. When P Mc wrote “When I’m 64” he probably didn’t think he’d be looking back on that age as a distant memory. But I’ll be at that esteemed age in 10 days or so if you all would like to send me a card.
I just deny my age and keep doing the things I have always done. I’m determined to get my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt someday, but it might be when I’m in my 70s…
I was extremely lucky. Many others weren’t, though.
It”s just occurred to me that “redundant” might sound odd in the US. It just means your job’s disappeared and you’re “let go”, which may be the US equivalent. I was offered the option of working from home and commuting to the main site (about an hour away by train) once a month or so, but I’m glad I didn’t do that, as a couple of years later there was another round of redundancies up there. However, the stars aligned and I got some good advice, which I’m glad I took.
Hehe, I nearly did my knee in dancing in the kitchen a few months back…
That would be very cool. I haven’t been there in over 40 years. I can’t believe they are still open. I saw Cheap Trick there way before they were famous. Also saw REO Speedwagon when they were just getting started. They still suck. Rock on, bro.
76 on July 2. My Trombone Year. (Will I make my Piano Year? Iffy).
Am I the oldest person on the forum? I think so. The decade of the 70s has been as rich or even more so than previous ones. I look my age and feel it. But, all good. Any guesses on the average age here? I guess 50.
You are young in spirit. Keep on cranking out those jams, bro. You have a very pretty lady, too. We are lucky men. Oh what a lucky man he was..
LOL, I did my knee in the kitchen last night. I don’t remember it hurting this bad, though.
68 here. Loving making more music in my retirement! Been recording music since the 80s but it is so much easier now! We are spoiled!
LOL. I used to watch Lawrence Welk when I was a kid. Later I got into jazz, punk, new wave and blues. In my advancing years I have no problem with all of these styles living together in my own music.
Haha! I'm sure REO Speedwagon doesn't suck nearly a fraction as much as Nickleback. 😂 Man, when it comes to Rock, I'm into Prog these days. But you also can't beat AC/DC, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Twisted Sister, and hell even Bon Jovi has a few iconic bangers.
As I can recall, but, one guy here is 80 years old, but, can’t remember the name on that guy - probably a while since he posted something here in a thread I visit…
Myself, I’m ”only” 61, but feel like I’m still 25, rebellious and cocky!
It seems like yesterday when I hanged at the locale musicshop and drooled after all cool vinyl records with Joy Division The Cure and/or Saxon…
In my country that’s a expression nowadays that says: ”71 is the new 30” - this descibe that in the year 1924 the chance to die was equal 30 year then against 71 years old today - the modern life with better food, better medication and better healthcare have made us older and better seniors…
Just (May) turned 62.
Back when he wrote it that was pension age, now it would be when I’m 67
