71 is the new 30! Keep on rockin’ !
Our hairs (if we got some left) may be grey, but, the inside is still colourful and brilliant!
Nowhere near. At least they don’t layer 100 guitars, compress the shit out of them, then overdub some shouted lyrics that sound like they were written by a misogynistic five year old.
I'll be 69 too in September, almost can't believe it, the last few decades have gone by pretty fast. Funnily I still see myself as a young guy, especially in my dreams
Can you even be misogynistic when you’re just five years old?
71 yrs. here in Space City. I’ve travelled through 7 “DAWs” from a Commodore 64/ Sequential Circuits system to Logic on this iPad Pro. Having more fun now than ever before! So much power and capability in my lap. Damn!!
"One should never trust a woman who tells one her real age. " -- Oscar Wilde.
Let's put it this way... I vividly remember the life-altering event of seeing The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, the big-bang-moment that was responsible for so many people of a certain era becoming a musician.
No, none of us are in our 60’s. We are all in our denial stage. But I think the App Store ought to have a senior discount..
😂
Oh Yeah! 64 and a bit!
Ask Chad Kroeger…
Developers would never make any money if that happened!
Ditto.
@LinearLineman I thought @McD had a few years on you?
@Pxlhg no way! I really thought you were younger lol
is only 54 himself - turns around and tip-toes out the door
I’d wager @LinearLineman ’s guess of an average age of 50 is at least 10 years out… I’ll leave you to work out which way …
67 and seven twelfths here .
Sixty-three in October...bits & pieces of me aren't working as well as they should but I'm still enjoying life...
Lucky then that you live in Sweden and not Ukraine!
Not sure if I need to feel any more irrelevant than I already am now and according to social media, everyone hates the boomers, or so we’re told.
On the plus side I have more time to think about music and play music, on the negative side, how much time left before I run out of steam? I think there’s a finite amount of steam left. How should I spend it?
I can remember thinking when I worked at one of my first jobs monotonously bending wires in a seat cover factory how I’d much rather be playing in my band or working on music when I had unfathomed supplies of energy.
I got dismissed from the job anyway; couldn’t keep up with the production line daydreaming about music.
65 back in February. Trying to milk this 1959 model for a bit longer. Favorite pastime is Waking Pythagoras in Odd Places with auGEN X, frekvens, Blackhole, AUM, pairs of separate Bluetooth speakers, iPad and iPhone for a highly portable quadraphonic setup. Simply adding more devices and pairs to increase surround channels. Fun! Fun! Fun!
No. I’m 73.
Your pfp makes you look in your 40s around my age. I'm sure you saw that episode of Ed Sullivan as a rerun. ☺️❤️
😂🤣 Exactly! That's Nickleback in a nutshell. Sheesh.
I’m 60 now, I find it strange to think that me and Jo were in our 40s when we started the channel, I was in my 40s when I first joined the AudioBus forum and made my first post.
Yeah, I probably wouldn't enjoy life there...
Wow, no wonder I resonate with you all - even though I have only made a few comments over the years. I am 67. I keep noodling with the iPad and mac. I am afraid that I get lost in the technicalities instead of the actual making of music. Though I do have a group I jam with every Sunday night. Thank you all for being there.
Hi Doug!
It feels like only yesterday that I started this hobby in 2020. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing! I found your tutorials to be the best. You presented information in a way that was easy to follow, and did so with a sense of humor. I made most of my purchases based on your reviews. It must have worked. I currently have 280 tracks on SoundCloud and just surpassed 40K plays last weekend. Thanks for your help!
I'm considering buying tickets to see a rock band led by a quartet of 70-year-olds. The Doobie Brothers. Unbelievable how much energy they appear to have in concert videos in that age group - I gotta see this in person.
I did see 70+ year old John McLaughlin put on an amazing show a few years ago. I doubt I'd ever have hair as fabulous as his if I'm lucky to reach his age, ever mind the instrumental skills.
I clearly recall my brothers playing Sgt. Pepper over and over. Green label on the LP vinyl and the album name didn't really fit in the circle very well.
So, yeah, I'm there, bro.
I don’t remember that, but I do remember how ubiquitous Hey Jude was - it was played everywhere, and one of my aunts was allowed to play it downstairs at my grandparents’ house as they liked it too. Then I remember what a huge deal the announcement of the Beatles breaking up was, and how no one would stop talking about it for weeks.

I’m 71. Jeez that sounds old.
My first childhood (I mean career) was as a musician (see below). Second career was as a mediocre coder. A few years ago I retired to my third career, the one that makes me no money at all: Making music on my iPad the same way you do, from my comfy chair.
My first music career was as a woodwind doubler in the theater pits of Chicago in the late seventies. I was fortunate enough to be able to earn a full time living just playing. In the early 80s I remember sitting in the pit reading a short article about this new thing called MIDI that allowed synthesizers to talk to computers. I showed it to the trumpet player next to me and said “it’s all over”. He didn’t believe me. Shortly after that we all became redundant.
I saw Doobie Brothers live about 3-4 years ago. Very high energy show and they sounded fantastic. Probably had a doctor backstage to resuscitate them if needed. Intended as a joke but I do remember seeing one of the last concerts Duke Ellington performed. He did have a doctor backstage. Anyway the DBs were traveling with the best damn sax player I ever heard in my life, Marc Russo. I’m a sax player and this guy was doing things that I did not think were possible. Knocked my socks off.
To your comment about McLaughlin’s fabulous hair…. When you are that age, be happy if you have hair at all.
… now wait a minute!

Nah. You’re good. On social media, everybody hates everybody. It’s alot like driving.
