Unless I'm missing the level of this joke, it IS real. The desktop plugin is available on the site and the ios version is just around the corner (like, done and awaiting final approval on apples side, 'around the corner')

Meh. It's probably sample based. I'm only interested if it's based purely on advanced AI modeling. I have far too many gigabytes of multi-layered typewriter samples to fit on my device already.

Sorry, I had to clarify to apple that it does indeed have a purpose…
To paraphrase “What is this actually for?” and a question that got concerningly close to “what is an audio unit extension?”
Edit, I’d love to think of someone at apple spending half a working week sat there pressing middle C hearing the sound of a typewriter enter key and wondering why it’s not created a new profile for them on the next big dating app…
