  • Thank You Caelum Audio now Caelum is King! Happy International Joke Day everyone-from a real joker from way back at least that was what my school report cards said :-) Cheers, ED

  • Just a reminder to everyone: Flux Pro is an amazing app.

I use Flux Pro all the time. Amazing app.

  • Thanks for this 👍

  • This is dope!!! I love the keyssss

  • @CaelumAudio you could have charged at least $9.99 for this, I’ve gotten worse for more, this is effing cool! Thank you!!

Meh. It's probably sample based. I'm only interested if it's based purely on advanced AI modeling. I have far too many gigabytes of multi-layered typewriter samples to fit on my device already.

No sympathetic key resonance - no interest from me.

    ;)

    LMAO, it does have resonance!

  • Very cool app. Thank you Caelum Audio.

    Long live the King!

  • @CaelumAudio
Thanks a lot for the fun app and official webpage!

The following is reports of standalone King Key’s crashing and failure to download samples.
My environment: iPadOS v16.7.2 / iPad Pro 10.5 inch (2017)

    Steps to reproduce:
If King Key’s built-in virtual MIDI keyboard is tapped after samples are downloaded, the standalone King Key crashes, in my environment.
Then, the reloaded standalone King Key asks again if you want to download the samples or not.

    *
Workaround, How to download samples successfully and prevent standalone King Key from crashing:
After downloading the samples, unload the standalone King Key. (Do not tap the King Key’s built-in virtual MIDI keyboard at this time. Otherwise, standalone King Key may crash.)
Then, when the standalone King Key is loaded (reloaded?), the samples are already downloaded successfully. And the standalone King Key does not crash.

  • Thanks @CaelumAudio . I have found myself using Tape Pro a lot of late. This looks like a lot of fun.

Yeah MIDI keys is crashing on me too, I’ll try this workaround! Thanks

    This thing is so dope!

  • Thank you @CaelumAudio this is a fun little app that I know I’ll use plenty.

  • We should do an ABF track challenge with the 3 Joke day apps

Now there's an idea! I'll come up with some parameters soon. :)

  • I just want to say those drum kits slam! I now need an entire @CaelumAudio drum machine... :star:

  • Another cool little freebie from @CaelumAudio! Thanks!

Just so I’m sure, and I do understand that it’s a “joke”, but this is just a sample player or “rompler” right?

As in it’s not really a “Sampler” as the AppStore description implies. It can’t “sample” anything right?

Can we import our own samples?

I didn't get the chance to play with King Key yet, but if we can't load our own samples, maybe @CaelumAudio can add that feature as a paid IAP. Wouldn't be the worst idea I've had. 😂

@jwmmakerofmusic I finally had a chance to check it out tonight. Doesn’t look like any user sample imports are possible at this point in time, nor does it have any kind of recording/sampling capabilities.

What we do get though, is a unique set of sounds and a neat set of effects and tools to modify and mangle them with. All for the amazing low price of FREE!

I just thought it was weird that the AppStore description reads “AUV3 and Standalone Sampler” (maybe that’s the “joke”???)

  • Thanks @CaelumAudio ! King Key is much more than a "joke" I think. I'm having great fun using it along with Ting, Skaka and Slammer 👍🏻

  • Here is my video for King King, this is great for way out percussion.

  • Modulation section of this app is cool but not very intuitive. I explain how to set it up so you can have various sources like velocity and aftertouch modding the fx in this video

Blackhole is magic! I’m gonna try it

  • Is there a way to have a basic amp envelope? I can't seem to figure out how to get short snappy playback, samples just play through with each key press

Env A on the UI is an adsr amp envelope, though it can also be a modulation source. That is covered in the video I posted above.
