Yep.. these laptops make my old desktop look like a turtle .... and the prices are ridiculous too..

This is where Ableton Link would be nice..

  • I'm 24 years deep into FLStudio. Love the upgrade thing.

    New release just out ...

    4.6.0 Jul 2, 2024
    What's new in 4.6

    Key features

    • Chord Keyboard: Effortlessly play chords on a touch screen interface.
    • Pitcher2: Enhanced version of our real-time pitch-correction and manipulation module.
    • Channel Rack Presets: Save and load your favourite channel rack setups.

    Improvements

    • Missing Sample Recovery: When samples are missing, the app will now search for files with the same name in other locations.
    • Audio Clip Pitch Automation: Separate sliders for sample playback speed (automatable) and sample pitch (non-automatable) for more precise control.
    • Render Selection: "Render selection" now ensures generated audio files are at least as long as the selection.
    • Consistent Audio Clip Handling: Move clips seamlessly between audio recording and audio clip tracks.
    • Direct Share Responsiveness: Improved responsiveness of Direct Share, with functional progress bar and cancel button at all stages of the sync process.
    • FX Spreader Visualization: Better visualization of quiet signals in the FX Spreader.

    Bug fixes

    • Fixed an issue where saving one project could overwrite another.
    • Resolved a bug in the Drum Sequencer where 'Duplicate' after 'Fill each x step' could copy more notes than intended.
    • Fixed 'Save New' not functioning for zipped projects.
    • Corrected an issue where resaving a zipped project as a regular project broke sample references.
    • Addressed a bug causing some MP3 samples to load with extraneous data at the end.
    • Fixed a bug in Slicer where the keyboard range was incorrectly adjusted when switching presets.
    • Corrected incorrect highlighting of selected notes in the Piano Roll.
    • Fixed MIDI CC links remaining after a module is deleted.
    • Resolved an issue with zip export producing corrupted zip files.
  • I didn't know they did a Mac version.

  • One thing I actually noticed during development of my new plug-ins is that FL appears to support AUv3 now even though they haven't put it in the release notes and I can't get them to confirm it! :o

If you're on macOS and have any of the Sketch Audio stuff please give it a go and let me know how it goes!

I don't have any Sketch Audio stuff, but some of the AUv3 plugins I tried (I don't have many) worked on my 2015 MacBook Pro. Others, such as miRack and the JAX Pianos crashed FL Studio.

  • Hey does FL studio mobile support multi core threading ? Like can you enable or disable multi core ?

  • @wim : Wuuuut?? July 2 upgrade ? Who knew? Thanks !!

It has a switch to enable/disable multi core processing. I'm not sure how useful that is considering FLSM doesn't support plugins, but it is there.

(FLSM does sort-of (as in sometimes it actually works) support IAA apps, but multi-core processing is of no benefit there as IAA are separate standalone apps.)

  • Ok thanks Wim

And I thought they said it supports auv3 but I guess they meant the main FL studio

Yep, that's what they meant. FLSM doesn't support AUv3 plugins. IAA support is somewhat spotty in my experience.

FL Studio on Mac supports old style AU plugins, and seems with the latest update to be able to load some AUv3 plugins, at least in my tests on an Intel MacBook. Ones that didn't work totally crashed FL Studio itself.

  • Any inkling of a baby step towards a hint that FLSM might get AUV3 is exciting to me. Favourite sequencer ever.

  • @wim : How do you think FL would work on a newer M3 MacBook?

Hahaha. Fine! I picked it up in the spring of 2000 for my high school senior project.

dunno. It runs great on my 2015 MacBook Pro. Best to check on the Image Line Forums though I suppose.

By that Coko means one team works on FL Studio main, and the other works on FLSM. :) But both teams do an incredible job! No doubt about it. FLSM in particular keeps on getting better and better all the time. One more EP/Album in NS2, and then I may either return to Koala or FLSM for the next musical venture. Or maybe a different app altogether. Maybe Nodes.

  • I love the updates. There's always something fun to play with. The chords feature has lots of possibilities...

  • @jwmmakerofmusic : Thanks for clearing that up. Am learning FL Mobile now as well as getting FL studio finally on laptop

Of course mate. :) I think you'll love both. I cut my music production teeth on FL Studio main. One reason FL Studio Mobile is one of my favourite iOS apps is due to the fact it doesn't drain my iPhone's battery as much as other apps tend to do to varying degrees. 😂

I also love FLSM's internal effects and synths. Some IAP packs for DWSampler are not as good as the others though, but I find recording long one-shots from other AUv3 romplers in AUM and using Files to pop them under "My Samples" into a dedicated projects folder gets me the sounds I need in DWSampler. (I do this on a per-project basis rather than try to sample everything all at once. That's just my personal workflow though.)

For instance, I sampled many of the "Celtic" instruments from Beathawk for this track above. Of course you don't need to do that and can simply stick to the instruments that come in FLSM (stock and IAP), which is what I did here for this EP I made on Android.

So if you have any questions about how to do this and that in FLSM, you can ask me. The only type of questions I wouldn't know how to answer would be those related to using external controllers. I don't use those, so I wouldn't know. 😂

  • @jwmmakerofmusic : Appreciate that , mate.. or as the kids like to say “Appreciate you”… 😉

  • Great tips !

  • @jwmmakerofmusic : I’ve never gotten into AUM too much but I guess if I’m gonna work with FLSM, I had better…

At least for the way I sample things from apps. 😅 Who knows? Your mileage may vary.

  • Where can I check how much the IAPs cost in flsm? Google and their site not showing me that info, cheers!
