Addicts, what’s the one you need before you quit.

App collecting is an addiction. It’s fun, you add new stuff you don’t need, then you get to the point where you’re like I need to stop! Ok, ok, I’ll stop right after I get these last two, and I’ll have everything I need. Mine are Geoshred pro and Zeeon but the Drummer apps could push me over when on sale.

  • Just get drambo

  • One? For me that would be PianoTeq 8. I love it so much I bought the whole enchilada using some credit card bonus money so the CFO didn’t see the purchase. I love tweaking the various instruments to make new sounds. Since it uses physical modeling you can push the starting instruments into something total different. I can drop the pitch center up or down octaves and make some powerful
bases or subtle flutes. It’s the kind of programming where you hear immediate and predictable results.

One of the best investments I have made with the definite exception of AUM for my DAW needs and StaffPad to compose film music. After getting all the StaffPad libraries I’ve probably spent more than the PianoTeq “whole enchilada” license. After going “all in” I was hoping I’d get new instruments included but alas… the new Bosendorfer is yet another $50. Good news for me… it’s so close to the Yamaha YC5 I don’t miss owning it.

I still feel like I need a "super synth" and I'm not crazy about the alternatives out there today. I think if I could get fully-fledged full-UI Alchemy, or we got Serum or Pigments for iOS or something, then maybe I could finally say "I have enough synth plugins"

    ...nahhh

  • just one more …

Haha... Yeah @Drrabbitfoot who you kidding here bro? 😂 😂 🤣

  • Waiting for Cherry Audio to bring their synths to iPadOS and waiting for Yonac to bring their apps to macOS. B)

    lol, for real

  • Heh well... The current SWAM sale just finished off my list weirdly (on the main sound front) -- and earlier today I threw down a PoC track on the newly built Loopy layout (...WIP of course, but all procured swam and placeholder synths are there)

Do live jazz/strings ambient-ish builds, copy em all together onto one loop and resample to add in live boom bap beats via AudioLayer Drumdrops packs and finger drumming, add a few more backing sounds on the fly, and bam

    30min/1hr live hip-hop track production

(The drums and vocal stuffs needs integrated)

Ok, shit.... Speaking of vocal stuffs, I do need FAC Envolver to go on sale (come oooooonnnnnn FAC) so I can sidechain for live voice over the music (there are a couple of apps I think can do it, but Envolver will open more doors in the future), for both a streaming concept and for tutorial vids ...

Imma not even going to start in on hardware front of "Just One More" tho... That's a twisted web of so many things that could be used to solve all issues in different combos, ranging from the just sub $100 to the mythical $1500 range -- ok, stopping there

[Synths - I have zero experience. I want to learn but there's so much I'm already learning and building, so it's Presets-A-Go-Go for now. Mains are King of B & D (I got snesynth et al a while back and like the layouts, so defaulting til I find more) and Pure Synth Platinum (went ham last black friday, so finding a lot of goodness there)

However I did grab Woodsynth and a few others I've seen recommended, to get more... classic? traditional? possibilities

But I'm hella overwhelmed (developing all other sides of what I've had in my head for decades, I'm finally going to get to push it all out!!) Upside, I've got a good backlog to go thru when I get settled with the second leg of this massive journey upon which I decided to embark April of last year. Here's to hoping the ride continues to be this fun!]

    .... Sonova...

    re:StaffPad

I've had this wishlisted and have been fighting SOOOO hard at not getting this with the sale because I was waiting for SWAM (yay!). I DONT need a new major piece to learn

I want to... Oh GOD I want to get that, but thankfully that $50 isn't a drop in the hat as so many others feel (which those drops DO collect eheheh heh... heh). That's on the long-term wish list for sure tho

    re:PianoTeq

"physical modeling" - well feck... I wasn't at all familiar with PianoTeq outside of seeing the name thrown around with other recommended synths, but this just borked my plans

Off to Google and Appsliced (...jesus, the countdown begins :() I GOOOOOO!!

(And probably add Just One More to my short list...)

  • Unfortunately it doesn’t exist yet…… though I keep thinking it might be this next one - but it never happens.

  • Ableton Live for iOS, or even BitWig.

  • @NeuM : Is Cherry Audio really bringing their synths here ?

  • @Telstar5 Cherry Audio no plans to port their synths to iOS

  • I’m reading this thread to the tune of “just one fix” by ministry

  • AALTO... It's been provisionally 'coming to iOS' for years.

  • Last month i declared myself done buying. Doesn't mean I'm not still waiting though.

Loopy pro timeline automation will make my life complete. I might not even make music anymore after that because it'll be too easy.

@NeuM : Is Cherry Audio really bringing their synths here ?

That’s my understanding. I don’t think they’ll be able to bring all of them over, but I’d expect something relatively soon… don’t hold me to any specific timelines.

I normally would have recommended ButterSynth (which you most probably already know or own), but currently this is a bad recommendation.

Yeah, reading the forums I had gotten the impression that ButterSynth was a bit flaky so I held off. We'll see what happens with that one in the long term, if it returns to the app store.

No announced plans, but I’ve communicated with them directly. Again, nothing announced yet.

  • I may or may not be an addict (40+ music apps), I don't know how that's defined around here. The app that would be the final fix for me would be Spacecraft 2. I'm not certain I'll ever see it but that's the one I'm waiting for.

But now that someone mentioned Pigments for iOS, yeah, that would be fantastic, but I don't believe that will ever happen. If we're just dreaming then I'd like Minifreak for iOS.

While I've avoided the steps in thr 'see how much you've spent' threads (object permanency can't possibly apply to digital, right?), I AM curious about this

    How you do?

For me Cherry Audios synths on Mac/Win isn’t good enough…

Nice UI, nice company, nice price, but, the sound quality isn’t on pair with other top-synth I’ve got…
