Modnetic by Surreal Machines (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/surreal-machines-modnetic/id6451084427

Modnetic offers comprehensive emulation of classic analog tape delay hardware from the 1970's. No mere slavish analog emulation, MODNETIC also has a few digital twists...

Modnetic gives you four powerful effects in one:

  • supreme analog emulated tape delay,
  • extremely realistic spring reverb choices,
  • bucket brigade chorus / flanger / phaser and
  • classic tone.

Analog sounding on the one hand, but digital clarity and impossible tricks on the other, such as classic digital phasers, reverse-tape and clickless realtime routing options. This is built solid enough for live performance as well as to transform your studio.

Modnetic is an Audio Unit V3 plugin; it benefits from an AUV3 host like Logic, GarageBand, Cubasis, FL Studio Mobile, AUM, etc.

Oopsie. FL Studio Mobile isn’t an AUv3 host.

  • what can I say?:)
best dub and more delays around and a generous price.
Bless up fi di iOS audio world!

    thanks Surreal Machines!

  • Oh wow, had this on OSX, it’s good!

  • Yeah, these (+Diffuse) are great together, and, on their own.

  • Great sounding app at a great price :)

  • Quick overview by Plugin Boutique

and a more in depth review

  • Been on the beta… it’s awesome as is diffuse!
Great to see it released ,
    :)

  • I have a 20-minute spoken walkthrough on Diffuse up on my Patreon already, btw, and will have a walkthrough up on the pair of these very soon, they're both great, and definitely different enough to make it worth buying both. Can't believe there is no decent spoken walkthrough on either of them, despite their popularity and how long they've been around! Vid should be up in an hour or so.

  • These two effects sound amazing, and super high quality.

  • Yesyesyes!
I have been waiting so long for this.
Such a versatile hi quality delay.
It sometimes beats my Volante and El Cap. Especially for richness.
    Good job!

Need to test it first obviously but this looks like its going straight onto my live rig fx bus send, delightful

For live work you might like to know that all controls (including selectors and buttons) are clickless - we designed the VST/AU for realtime manipulation and the IOS versions draw on the same codebase for all the same features.

Yes, nice work on that, really good for tweaking!

Even better, that’s great to know.

Noticed your firm is from also Berlin, good to support a local team! Looking forward to playing with Diffuse and Modnetic later once the weather cools down and I can focus properly

  • I’ve been using the desktop AUs of these for a long time: both are pure joy.

  • I am amazed by how fun this is, such cool sounds from such a direct UI with a clear focus on live tweakability. Definitely going to have to dedicate some knobs on my midi controllers to this very playable effect. Bravo!

Well - we are in different places, but one of us in in Berlin - I'm in the north of England, but it's always nice to visit Berlin!

    Glad you are enjoying!

  • Yes! Love it @AlexHarker and @Matt_Jackson ! 👍🙏🎶🔊

  • Just posted my first test drive of it over in Creations. Seems very flexible. I like it!

Great proof of the value of this app. I’m in.

  • Spent many hours with Modnetic today and it’s been a lot of fun, i’ve finally found the ideal delay for my live delay bus. Theres a lot of great delays on ios out there but they’re not really optimised for live tweaking. Modnetic offers seemingly endless ways to squeeze unique and interesting responses to the sounds you feed it - it plays just like an instrument and has a life of its own. I’ve devoted 8 knobs of midi to it but could see myself adding more in the future.
Love the spring reverb and the dub phaser, spent the most time with those - generally with the modulation routed after the echo. So many routing and character options, i barely scratched the surface.

Diffuse is also a gem, loaded that onto my reverb bus and it earned its spot pretty quickly. It can do delays but i keep the diffusion and space parameters pretty high to keep it reverby.

Absolutely fantastic, really really good. I have so many delays but this is something else.

Exactly what I was going to say. I love delays and have some really great ones, but Modnetic and Diffuse are in a class of their own. For guitarists (like me) these are must-own effects.

  • Anyone else find that the presets dropdown doesn’t open (in AUM)?

What iPad OS version are you using?

    This is 11" M1 iPadPro running iPadOS17.5.1.

We haven't seen any reports of that in testing. If you continue to have issues please do get in touch: https://www.surrealmachines.com/contact/

  • @AlexHarker @Samu Oops! Sorry… it’s Gorilla I’m having this issue with, not Modnetic. This is fine :-)
