New Apps Now Available for Apple Silicon?

Maybe this is just me being slow to the prize however I was just looking to add Neon Sequencer to my desktop setup (M1) after buying it for iPad and seeing it's Apple Silicon compatible. I then thought I'd check my iPad purchases in the Apple Desktop store to see if I'd missed any others. Lo and behold there was a literal slew of them! One of the most surprising was NanoStudio. Also happy to see iDensity and the other ApeSoft apps. All the 4 Pocket apps (which I think I knew but somehow completely forget about - RingFX, Euclidean etc). Oh also the Ifretless apps too.

Anyway this is probably old news but in case you're sleeping on it and use desktop setiups with Apple Silicon then it's definitely worth checking through your iPad Purchases in the desktop App Store to see if you've been missing out.

As I remember I installed the Korg synths to Mac thru iMazing app on Mac…

  • I checked my Mac now for how many apps I’ve have installed that is iPad-apps.

A total of 54 iPad apps on my Mac!

Not all is music related though…

This is what works great on my Mac Apple Silicon:

So good! It also makes it so much easier when transferring projects to desktop.

  • Thanks for the reminder

Wow, so you can use AUM as an AUv3 host on M1 and higher Macs?

Hmm, not an AUM user so not sure. I’m talking a semi manual process from a DAW using midi export or Logic if I still subbed :)

The most important with running iPad/iPhone apps on Mac M-cpu:s is to have access to multiply versions of the apps - as I remember the two-three latest versions of AUM will not run perfect…

Also, this affects a few others apps that I’m running on my Mac…

Rebirth? You can use it on a Mac?

  • And Nanostudio 2? Can you really use it on a Mac ?

  • AUM and BeatHawk don’t seem to be available on the Mac store, perhaps these are pre sideload blocking. NS2 does load still but would love AUM on Mac.

Yes, amazingly it does. I had a quick play with it yesterday. Will try to import a project from my iPad when I get a moment.

Wow, thanks for the response. I had never heard of it. I don't have a Mac but the idea of using NS2 on a Mac makes me dream...

Many iPad apps that I run on my Mac is copied/installed with help of the Mac app iMazing…

It must not be found on Mac appstore to be installed on Mac…

iMazing is great - I have output around 600 .ipa files with iMazing, some apps in different versions…

Beathawk as an example, there I’ve got three different versions backed up, and only the oldest is working on Mac…

  • THIS IS A JOKE BUT ALSO CONTAINING FACTS!

    StaffPad runs on MacOS.
StaffPad Requires an Apple Pencil to enter notation.
MacOS doesn’t support Apple Pencils as a “mouse” like pointer.

    [Starting Joke]
Using an Apple Pencil on MacOS enters notes into StaffPad but it uses invisible ink.
Currently invisible notes are rendered as silence.

[PREDICTING THE FUTURE: also knows as talking out of my ass]
An update to StaffPad is anticipated sometime this year.
There’s a solid possibility that StaffPad do more on MacOS than it does now.

I have conducted many experiments of Pencil-less creations on my iPad:
    1. importing MIDI or MusicXML files.
    2. using a MIDI keyboard or an analog piano for note entry via recordings
    3. routing MIDI from a DAW like AUM into Staffpad using shared BPM using a human to press transport

Now, when will StaffPad be supported on the VisionPro!!! or my Watch!!! get to work Muse Group.

If you wanna run AUM on Mac M-series you first of all have to get an older version of AUM to iOS - then you can go thru iMazing to install it to your Mac…

Are you saying that the current iOS version of AUM won't install on MacOS using iMazing?

It isn't possible to get an older version of AUM onto iOS in order to back it up with iMazing. iMazing downloads the current version from the App Store, it doesn't back anything up from the device itself. Even if one had an iPad with the older version on it to back up with iMazing, it would still grab the App Store version.

As I wrote earlier in this thread, I have continually backed up some apps over time, and, therefore I’ve got older versions of AUM that is more stable on Mac then recently versions…

As I remember, latest versions of AUM doesn’t work well…

Yeah, Rebirth by Propellerheads in Stockholm is a really legendary piece of software!

Sorry though that Roland forced Propellerheads to remove it from Appstore - gladly we are a bunch of people that has backups to our beloved musical software!

  • I've paid for AUM on iPad. Don't suppose anyone can point me to an older version that I can download so I can put it on my Mac?

  • @cyberheater said:

Even if they could point you to an older version it would be impossible to install. It just doesn't work that way.

The only way you can install an older version is if you backed it up before it was upgraded, while logged in with your Apple ID. That app backup can't be installed by any other Apple ID.

Your best bet is to try backing up the current version using iMazing, then install it to the Mac with iMazing. @HolyMoses says the current version doesn't work as well, but it might be worth a try.

Thanks for the clarification. That's not something @cyberheater can do at this point, but maybe they can at least try the current version, if iMazing can successfully install it.
