Agreed. If Drambo ever went away, it’ll be a Ukulele for the rest of my life.

    Haha!

Perhaps we should do a list of substitutions to Drambo, before it eventually disappears?

As you mention, ukulele, and triangle, bongos, harmonica, fogsvans, mungiga, shakers?

    I think I’m the triangle guy…

that's the issue with Apple/apple store, the consumer on a fundamental level doesn't really own the app independently from apple store and the iOS integration. yeah, you can go through some hoops and save the app's somewhere but its all garbage to be honest. we should be able to just run the app forever without issue.

lets face it some of the dev's will die at some point then their cool little app will disappear from your ipad.

Apps don't disappear from an iPad even if the developer removes them from the App Store or discontinues their account.

Even then, if you back them up to a desktop using iMazing, if they do disappear from the App Store you can still restore them to a different device if the one you have dies.

and what if you don't use imazing? or even if you do use imazing and haven't backed it up in time before the app disappears?

If your device die and you ain’t got the ipa-file backed up, you’re just as happy as the guys leaving Las Vegas with empty pockets…

Ha! That kind of stomich seems familiar!

We also have snapping fingers, plocking sounds putting your in the mouth and quick released it thru your lips…
A matter of facts, if you’re the guy just like Bubba Smith in the movie ‘Police Academy’ you ain’t need any devices to make sounds!

It still doesn't disappear from your device, only from the App Store.

If your device dies or you upgrade it to an OS version that breaks the app, then you're outta luck.

  • I treat apps more or less like a commodities...
...apps come and apps go wether we like it or not as things are no longer being built to last forever.

  • I’m still sad that Oval Synth keeps getting discontinued. One thing I’m thankful for Android apps is I can still find the APKs and side load the app so they aren’t forgotten.

I’ve also bought older iPhone SE because they have the headphone jacks and I can use them like Kaossilators to store legacy apps.

I wish I got Propellerhead Thor. That app sounds insane.

iMazing. Back 'em up before they go away, and you can do the same on Apple. The free version is enough for this task. Even if they're no longer for sale, but in your purchased items list, you can still back them up.

I’ll be honest. I have iMazing. But it’s a pain to have to back up my 256GB on a laptop to access a few apps.

You don't have to. You can just back up the apps. Device backup is different than app backup.

There's a further advantage: if you have backed up an app before an update, and that update breaks something, you can restore the previous version. It's even possible to keep multiple versions of the app backed up.

Oh that’s good to know. I have to check it again but I remember it asked me to back it up entirely first before I could back up specific apps.

    Thanks @wim

Pianoteq ( Steel drums collection )

Is free to practice ( probably even make a tune )

Must be better than oval synth.

If its these drums you need.

Would probably be my pianoteq purchase ( if I wernt to choose a piano and an e piano ) for the first pianoteq upgrade, giving you 2 instruments.

Good to know, thanks. But wow, that licence price is insane. I have heard a lot of great things about Pianoteq, but I doubt I’ll use it to its full potential.

I do like Oval Synth for its sound, and it’s UI. It really reminds me a lot of the Artiphon Orba. Being able to access the sounds quickly is so fun.

Thanks for the recommendation @sigma79. I’ll keep an eye on new sounds and promos from Pianoteq

Hold in mind that the price for Pianoteq is a desktop price, and, the iPad licence comes as a bonus…
Also, a Pianoteq license let you download all versions of Pianoteq - Mac, Windows, Linux and iPad/iPhone!

So, nothing beats Pianoteq in naturly sounded Pianos (Grands & Uprights), and also most of the collection to add to Pianoteq are insanely awesome, complex and groundbreakin’!

Ah that makes more sense. Good to know.
Idk…between Gadget 3, and Pure Synth Platinum, I think I’m set for piano sounds. Plus, it’s better to master one app a thousand times, than multiple apps.

But it’s definitely a solid option for those with desktops, iPads, or looking for piano sounds.

  • Everything Korg made before Gadget. They have no idea what they have. Gadget is nice what everything sounds like Gadget.

    Animoog 1 , Patterning 2.

Too many reasons why their newer versions are not cutting it.
