I'm guessing there isn't two factor authentication or some other protection to stop bots registering and spamming

Or they are finding a workaround

  • Yeah, I alerted @Michael and @thesoundtestroom in PM rather than waste 10 minutes of production time flagging each thread individually. Just phenomenally aggravating. 🤣 Ah well, bot cleanup soon.

nice work jwm. I started flagging stuff but stopped as soon as they kept coming.
Wouldn't mind some cheap flights to England but that's not why I'm here!

    Exactly, what the fuck? 🤣

 Especially a cheap flight on Emirates airlines. Qatar too. I see these travel vlogs on Youtube like Walk With Me Tim and Kara & Nate as well as Simon Wilson and Trek Trendy, showing different seats in first class luxury. Far more entertaining than this spam rubbish.

Looks like things were cleaned up. Phew.

Edit: Until a new one popped up. Oh dear.

  • looks ugly :(

Uglier than me when I first wake up. 😂

  • Maybe the bots thought "Hmmm... 🤖 AudioBUS... must be a travel forum!" 🥴🤦‍♂️

  • Looks like the deals thread got caught in the crossfire 😬

I'm not sure these kinds of problems will be solvable anymore, at all, in the not-too-distant future, given the still-ongoing exponential advances in AI 🥴

Funny I was just thinking about this like ten minutes ago, logged on to see this mess... :(

  • Well, I guess at least for this instance, it's rather easy to solve: Just delete any post and associated account which has any bracket-like character repeating at least 3 times in a row 😂

Should AI be astute at removing spam?

  • Let's give the mods a salute today. I appreciate this forum tremendously.

Oh damn, they accidentally deleted @Poppadocrock's sales thread? Jeez

This is the most aggressive campaign of spambots I think I've ever seen here. Any new accounts really should go through a multi-factor approval process.

  • WOW. I just responded to the "favorite sound design synth" thread and it's already buried on page 2

Yes, hard to believe something like that isn't running, it's necessary for sure

OK that's a good counterpoint. So I guess there would be a market for a GPT-based AutoMod bot (seriously. I don't have the energy anymore to make something like that but I guess someone else could. Or already has.)

Forum is a bit older in general... is there even a normal Captcha in the registration process? (though those are probably already useless anyway...)

  • This is beyond a joke now. Head hurts trying to get through it all.

    Idea for a captcha :
Choose the correct spelling between Game changer and Game changier

  • Personally I’d close the site down to all but admins and let them sort it out in their own time… @thesoundtestroom ?

  • Wow what the heck? Spamola city

Or select the mediocre recording artist whose work isn’t described as “Genius”, “Legendary”, or Iconic”.

  • Well, I don’t know about you guys but I booked a trip to Congo. It was a bargain and all I need to take with me are my sunglasses and a bulletproof vest.

  • It’s been bonkers today😂🤣
