    Hey guys :) thank you
@audiblevideo hey I’ve tried to incorporate the gear I use the most and build them into cases so I can set up quick ,as I have very little room . I’ll try explain the way I’ve it set up
So iPad Pro is going to a usbc hub and has 15amp charger for power it keeps iPad charged and it powers mc101 and rd3 via usb then a mouse for the iPad and mini usb for the Korg nano (all plumbed into the case)
I mainly use AUM on the iPad
I make AUM clock the mc and the rd3 via usb
The MC101 is an audio interface when plugged in like this so all it’s audio and the iPads audio come out of its main 1/4 outs .. these along with the rd3s headphone out go to a small unpowered stereo mixer
The outs from this small mixer go to the Mpc ones line ins and monitored through the Mpc so the whole thing acts like one big instrument
I can apply internal fxs to the iPad and hardware like this on the Mpc
I used to use ableton link to sync the Mpc to the iPad however there was a big noticeable lag .so now I have the iPad clock the mc101 and rd3 , Mc101s midi out goes into Mpc midi in ,then AUM clocks it all it becomes the master :)
Hope this makes sense lol it seems to work for me
I like it because I get the best of both worlds being able to have hand on control of several things all communicating together and I like the modular type sequencing on the iPad to run the hardware

Could you explain the lag? Are some things playing late? Slow to start after hitting play? I found Link with 2 x iPad running Cubase 3 was almost seamless…

  • Hi Gordie , hope you got your lag issue sorted 🤞

  • Hey yes I’ve got it sorted now thanks
I was trying to keep the mpc one as master clock and had to rely on link . I didn’t like the idea of needing Wi-Fi for this . In the house it’s cool in my mates garage it’s different and laggy and I needed his Wi-Fi ti make it all work . The lag I was noticing with using link was if I stopped a device mid play back it never got back in sync . Now i have it all being clocked from the iPad via midi it’s super tight
I didn’t realise other people done playing a 4/4 pattern on all machines to test for sync issues. For me it’s all I noticed when trying two different kicks one from mpc one for mc101 . But now it’s all hardwired with midi . Screw the Wi-Fi this is what I was after 😀
