What a great band and as they've both kept playing and singing during their hiatus I'm sure they'll be awesome next year. Feeling a little sad again that I'm in New Zealand, doubt we'll get a look in for the extended 'world tour' that will follow if they can keep the band together long enough.
What's the story (morning glory) was my highlight, although I have great memories of cycling down a Hertfordshire river path in summer 2005, and in the middle of the countryside I chanced upon a group of girls in their late 20s having a picnic and belting out the brand new 'the importance of being idle'.
I stopped, enjoyed some banter and music for a while, and I cycled on (to a pub).
Just a random, carefree, great time.
Bizarrely, because its well known when the song came out, and someone has inexplicably uploaded a sunny weather forecast for England for Sunday 28th August 2005 to Youtube, I can pinpoint my memory to 19 years ago to the day, and at this moment I was in the pub garden wondering how I was going to get the bike home as I was pretty sure I'd end up in the river if I tried to ride it home.
I saw Smashing Pumpkins last night and they were poking fun at the news and joking about how James Iha was secretly planning to leave and join Oasis.

Oasis is back on tour? Yeah, right
Next you're going to tell me that for my birthday on Sept 12, the completely delisted and impossible to combine copyrights of Marvel vs Capcom 2 will just magically be delivered to my NINTENDO based console with online play?
And, why not. If we are just throwing things out there, let's do the same for Powerstone 1 & 2 for next year 😂😂
(Srsly though, these zero percent chance things happening are pretty fking wild
And if you don't follow fighting game news, yes, MvC2 is getting digital re-release on Sept 12 (Nov 22 physical) with the Marvel Vs Capcom fighting collection (all Vs titles are in there from X-Men COTA thru MvC2, with training modes and playable bosses)... And Capcom Fighting Collection 2 was announced for next year with both Powerstone Games, Project Justice and a handful of other classics)
...are you near Atlanta?
We couldn't afford tix and I had to work. Couple of guys came in that night after the show and I got a quick earful
Still awaiting the return of the OA.
Where ever she may be.
Hell yeah! I can easily see why they never got to be a hugely popular band, but they have rarely ever produced a dud song.
Who else could do what they did to a Steely Dan song?
ahahahahaha yeah right! I think they said fuck more than in any other song? As a side note, coming from Reading, the single's artwork made that song a bit of an anthem around our way for a while
Here’s what happened. Really awful. People waiting online for many hours in a queue of tens of thousands only to find when it’s their turn that the advertised / face value price has more than doubled.

ABC Australia report:
"Oasis fans look back in anger at Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing":
Getting tickets to see Oasis in their first gig in 15 years was always going to be a headache. But fans of the mouthy Mancs were unprepared for the drama that unfolded as tickets to their UK and Ireland Live '25 tour were released over the weekend.
Tens of thousands of fans queued online for hours only to realise that standing tickets, originally advertised at £135 ($261), had soared to as high as £355 ($688).
The price of tickets became inflated under Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing mechanism, where tickets that are deemed "in demand" can be sold for a higher price than initially advertised (similar to how the cost of a rideshare can explode during surge times).
Irish fans encountered the same issues, with tickets for Oasis's Croke Park gigs going from €86.50 ($141) to up to €415.50 ($677) for the same ticket.
Following the outcry from Oasis fans, UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said dynamic pricing would be included in a government review of the secondary gig sales market.
"It's depressing to see vastly inflated prices excluding ordinary fans from having a chance of enjoying their favourite band live," she said in a statement.
Harry Styles, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran have used dynamic pricing for past international tours.
Ticketmaster says on their website: "Promoters and artists set ticket prices. Prices can be either fixed or market-based. Market-based tickets are labelled as 'Platinum' or 'In Demand'."
400 quid to stand at the back of a field and drink overpriced warm piss while listening to a low-grade Beatles cover duo indulge your misguided 90s nostalgia.
Yeah, hard pass.
Amazing series! Totally bonkers, so gutted they cancelled it
I kinda thought they wrapped it up, went all super meta at the end?
My Mrs got good at doing the moves, proper committed😅
I’m impressed!!!!!!!
I thought they wanted one more series, but Netflix cancelled it?
I liked murders at the end of the world but it wasn’t the same. I need the weird
Ah you’re right, I forgot, though move one for the tip on murders, passed me by so I’ll check it out🙏
Love how there's now outrage over ticket pricing because the over 45s try to go to a gig.
Saw Noel a couple of times on his last tours - first one at the Ryman was amazing - took my boy and it was great to share my youth with him - he had a blast. Second one on the last tour wasn't great. Seemed pissed off that folks were waiting for him to get through his new stuff and get to the Oasis tunes. Didn't sell great either, but the venues were too big.
Saw Oasis at one at their first gigs in a tent in a park in Liverpool, they were brilliant back then. Saw them at Glastonbury too and that was something else. They've always been an easy target for critics, but they're just a good working class rock n roll band cranking out good tunes. They're not claiming to be anything high brow. And Noel and Liam are both funny af. Saw an article in The Independent trying to blame them for 90s lad culture - good grief.
It’s the ‘dynamic’ pricing that’s causing the issue. I’m betting that all these gigs you went to - you paid the advertised ticket price - in particular the half empty one. Nor have you been subjected to anything like the disgraceful scenario described above - correct?
Yeah, that's definitely bullshit. Are they trying to compete with resellers by jacking up prices of ticket that will do well on the resale market? Seems like the wrong way to tackle that problem.
Always just hopped the fence at Glastonbury - I'm sure you cant do that these days either!
noel...eer ah lad, fooking ticket touts aar rippin off ahr workin' class fans...
Liam...Fookin' disgustin'....wot we gonna do about it?
Noel... Fookin' rip em off arselves soft lad....
Liam...Ching Ching..
Sorry to bring this back to the front page BUt its a very good mini doc about how Noel uses synths. . . . . I enjoyed it anyway
db
Check this tune ( as I posted before )
Love the instruments ( the key melody etc )
How much? Too much…
I’m afraid Oasis are a total blind spot for me, and the amount of coverage this has been getting on my MSM of choice, Radio 4, has frankly been baffling to me. All I think when I see either of those two photocopy Beatles brothers pontificating in the press is a phrase we would use back in my policing days, when we saw some lairy yob blasting past our patrol car in a tricked out Ford Escort, begging, just begging, for a law enforcement interaction…
…Seems like a good stop.
