  • I find it already challenging to use on the 10” iPad. It’s a windows-management extravaganza. I can’t imagine what that would feel like on a phone if they don’t cut down on the features or redesign it completely for phone 🙃

  • Hahaaaa “extravaganza”

I’m more interested in tracking my friends during travel at the drop of a hat, then having the project sync via iCloud to desktop or iPad based Logic Pro for finishing

  • I seriously doubt it.

    Probably not...

    Garageband does this

  • I don’t see the UI working at all on that size of a screen. I think they could extend Garageband just a bit and cover a lot of iPhone use cases in fine style (just supporting MIDI plugins would be huge)

Me neither. It would need a complete redesign of the UI and still not provide the full LPX experience, so I wonder which audience would use it seriously.

  • First mind, no, probably not…

Second thought, absolutely not - will never happend.

To me it’s absolutely impossible to call an app ”PRO” and running it on an smartphone!

It’s small on the big iPads even, but there we at least can use a mouse and external keyboard…

Now if I could just get the EQ view in there somehow...

Plenty of space! Maybe they could also add Split View too, so I can get some sweet a$$ multitasking on my watch 😻

Yup. You got it right on.

Apple sees the iPad as the future of computing. And before, I didn’t get it. But using the Vision Pro, I see the vision. (Heh, get it?)

The iPad is a unique computing experience where you can touch the music. On Macs, you’re limited to mouse and keyboard.

Vision Pro extends that experience of the iPad. But it’s not there yet. I actually got vertigo when I used it a third time and was knocked out for an hour. Problem was the lens size they gave me was sized wrong. It’s whatever, but it did sour my experience on the technology…for now anyways.

(Don’t worry…I didn’t spend a cent on it. Apple lets you demo it for free at their Apple stores)

    Back to it…

iPad redesigns logic so it is accessible to touch. It’s not a direct port. A port would have been easier. The new iPad uses the same chips, Apple could have done a Catalyst or Rosetta and brought it over, especially when they reworked Logic a few years ago.

Getting the iPad experience down, will set the stage for Vision Pro.

But for the iPhone? Not needed. The screen is way too small to use it. Even if they squeezed it in the Pro Max, it wouldn’t be as practical as using GarageBand for iOS, then opening it on the Mac/iPad/Vision Pro on Logic.

I’m just wondering why the team went through all that trouble to make it so hyper responsive it seems intentional that they can shrink it that small, or perhaps it’s just laying the foundation for the new GarageBand where they will strip out all the features that are just not accessible on a screen that small

Also, the Final Cut Pro iPad version is not nearly as responsive

GarageBand wouldn’t import my random logic project from my iCloud library I’d have to be more intentional and pre-bounce a two track stem, imported into GarageBand, then they lay their tracks and then I’d have to somehow get it back into logic pro again, bounce, stems import, blah blah

  • Logic iPad is so good but also such a cluster that i had to cancel my subscription. I’ll use it to master or split up a bunch of tracks. But the work flow on it to switch MIDI, outs, mixer, effects, time line, all of it just makes my brain hurt.

Loopy pro is the best all around daw imo. Its all so customizable and immediate. And it all makes sense. Making changes is a breeze, its on iPhone too

Yeah it actually works very well for me, but I don’t recommend it to anyone anymore as it’s an acquired taste

It's for VR use. You have to try that thing to see and get the vision.

I had to convince 3 of my friends to try it out, so I wasn't being biased. They came up with the same conclusion I did.

It's really cool, but not yet. Apps are not there yet.

It may not be there yet, it's also not here yet. Still no signs of it becoming available here in this part of Europe.

Vision Pro? Oh I’m a user. I’m on it right now lol use it three times as much as iPad actually. Again something I wouldn’t actually recommend because it’s not for everyone. But it has been a transformative experience for me.

Well yeah, it's not good for round-trip. But honestly Logic iPad and Logic Mac are barely able to manage round-trip project sharing, and that's only if you stick to stock plugins.

I know right? It’s both hilarious, yet true. That’s the best way to describe the Vision Pro to consumers.

But it’s an amazing piece of technology that I’m hoping does well, yet I’m afraid it will be one of those unique items like a LIDAR scanner that only a few specialized industries will use.
